Need woodland gear?

You're in luck. I was buying some stuff from the kind folks at Arktis USA and was told that they're blowing out all of their woodland gear at 50% off. Arktis makes absolutely spectacular gear used by the SAS and British Army, Metropolitan Police, and other European armed forces. I have one of their 1601 Battlevests and it's a tremendous piece of kit which is normally $250 USD, so if you can get one for half that it's well worth the cost!

Thought I'd pass this along to anyone who needed to fill out their woodland pattern uniform.

http://www.arktisusa.com <-- not the best site but at least has contact info

http://www.arktis.co.uk <-- British home page, lots of good pics

I concur, I have a 1601 woodland jungle vest and a 1606 OD Sigma Battle vest, which is mindboggling with it's features. The quality of design and build is top notch. I'm pretty hard on my kit and the jungle vest looks almost new after 2 years and the Sigma is in very nice condition too, considering I soaked/dragged/pounded mud into it to "break it in" and wore that as my primary vest the last year & a half. Nothing for molle on these babies, but you don't really need any either. Very comfortable to wear as well. My Sigma probably pushes 30-40 pounds fully loaded with hydration pack & mags, but I don't notice the weight once it's on. I just wish I could get a Sigma in Multicam or even tan, but they're not available.

Get some!

I actually saw a 1600-series battlevest in Multicam on eBay a while ago. VERY rare. Didn't bid on it because I hate Multicam. It was only $95 USD too, which makes me question whether it was truly Arktis or not. It had every characteristic of an Arktis vest though, looked identical.

*EDIT* Yeah, there it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/Jungle-Battle-Ta...QQcmdZViewItem

I'll take two of what's wearing that vest, please.

The ones on Ebay are knockoffs of the 1601 jungle vest. Not badly made, but not great either. And they're all being sold by militarygriffen aka Ironwolf Enterprises. Good guys, but won't take paypal anymore unless you're in the US.

I'd contacted Arktis about making one in Multicam, as a one off. I was nicely informed they would be happy to oblige, however I had to supply the material and pay for the minimum order, 100 units. I love my 1606, but not that much. Might take a stab at making my own if I could get the material. And if my machine could last that long.

Heh, I got a similar response from Tacgear about doing another run of Danish M84 pattern clothing, except he'd have the material printed and I had to order 300 units.

My 1601 is in M84 and I love the thing to death. Love wearing it but it just doesn't quite go with my tigerstripe. Thankfully I now have a genuine issue Danish smock and my genuine issue trousers are on the way! Good Christ, if you thought Multicam was expensive...
