My MP5 has always been good out to 150ft using 0.25g. Aside form that, anything will work. What range do you consider anyways? I've also gotten kills with my KSC G19 using 0.43g out to 130ft. You meaning up to 200ft? Longer barreled AEGs would be best for you.

yea, about 200+ feet would be nice, i love the whole sniper aspect to the game with the stealth and the satisfaction of a long range elimination

You'll be hardpressed with that by using an AEG then. Besides, the noise will be heard for a few hundred feet. Why not got for a bolt action after investing in a smaller AEG?

Stalker's right. Getting a decent AEG with some accuracy upgrades first, then going for a gas sniper rifle would probably be your best bet.

...Wow, thank you Sukivan for that detailed, and excellent response to the thread....
....B/As are typically gas powered, and they are varied in price, depending on which one you go for. Look around on here for reviews, some are better out of the box than others. Some require a lot of upgrades, and again, some are cheap, some aren't. The M700 is great out of the box, with a few minor touches which have beend discussed in detail on threads in this board, just do a search. However it does run quite hot, so it's not necessarily the best gun for a new player... |

In a nutshell; the longer the barrel, the longer the reach.

Bolt actions are typically spring powered, but there are some that are gas. Spring powered are more expensive, but more consistant and accurate. As far as gas goes, they are pretty decent as well, just not as consistnat, and as Gandar said, tend to be overpowered especially for the inexpereinced. You cna buy a new KJW M700 for just over $300cdn, add on a scope and a coupl e mag, would serve you well for less than $300. But playing only with a BA gun is boring, and you will lose interest after a couple games of little to nothing. Sniping isn't for everyone (even though I'm experienced, it's not the way I play). I run 80% of the time in my cadpat, using my MP5, and always have my M24 slung on my back. At times, when needed, I slink into a good position ahead of the attack group, and snipe. When my team moves in, I go for guys who expose themselves. When my team gets hit hard by defence, I'll drop my M24 and head in with my MP5 and G19 and do what I can until the area is cleared or I get shot. Nothing wrong with being a sharpshooter role, and most bolt actions will out do AEGs any day.

M14's have range as well.
If you are looking for an AEG with range i would suggest looking into it.
