I cut down a barrel for my MP5SD, cut it to 330mm length. That places it about 2-3mm inside the end of the SD muzzle. You won't find one cut to that exact length, just find one a bit longer, hacksaw the end off where you need it, then dress (crown) the inside and outside to remove burrs.

BTW, it added roughly 20-22fps to my velocity, not a bad thing! And it still works just fine with the ported cylinder.

i just did this today with a CA barrel, and ill be danged if it shoots crapier.

and its the CA barrel, i had put it in my JGm4 a while back, but took it back out. now just for kicks, i cut it down (in a lathe), crowned it and slapped it in my mp5sd.

these CA barrels are complete crap.simple words cannot describe the crappiness of them.

ill have to pick up a good tightbore, and do it over i guess.:banghead:

ive decided , upon further testin that when my madbull tightbores arrive next week, ( i ordered 2, one for my m4, and one for my mp5sd5) that i will take this CA barrel out, put it in my vise, and bend it in a complete loop, destrying it forever. the stock JG barrel was shooting 2" groups at 25 feet. this one, about 8" groups. complete and utter garbage. when i look through it, it looks all ripply, not even close to being smooth.

i would never wish this heap of crap on anyone...... and the guys at Xtreme Tactics told me "oh, this is what you want! it'll perform much better than the stock barrel" bah, what a crock. the worst 30.00 i ever spent on airsoft......

rant over.....

Ouch... 30 bucks for A CA barrel??

That's the price of a decent tightbore... CA barrels aren't tight bores...

The barrel isn't blue is it?

Amos,

CA does make tightbores (Please do some research before you post something like this). To be precised I recall doing the sale myself. I sold the gentlemen a "CA Stainless Steel 6.04mm High Precision Inner Barrel". I run one myself in a gun that I used at Operation Cold Front and never had an issue with it, nor have I had any other complaints about it from customers.

We have Madbull tight bores in stock as well for the same price, however I recommended the CA over the Madbull because it is stainless steel oppose to aluminium with a telfon like coating. Not only do I sell the product, but I have owned both types myself.

NOTE: The Madbull barrels are 6.03mm oppose to the CA 6.04mm. However I find that the madbulls will tend to "shave" off layers of bb's (depending on the bb's you use) with the end result coating your barrel with plastic flakes.

With any form of modification to something, it will never perform the same or to spec for that matter. And this greatly depends on how the barrel was cut or crowned. The barrel could be pinched/bent during the cutting process, or an improper crowing can cause burrs which would greatly affect the guns performance.

ginnz. If you have a concern or a complaint, please address it directly to us. We try to pride ourselves in customer service. I sold you what I thought would be the best choice in the selection you were given. As I said I have had experience with both barrels (I'm not just guessing that one is better then the other nor is this anything to do with a sale because they were both retailing at the same price).
