Batteries in Real Steel Crane stock?
As per thread title. I think I'd like to try putting in my 10.8v NiMH for crane stocks into a real steel LMT SOPMOD buttstock. I have a dremel, a couple balls and a few brain cells to rub together and wondered if anyone could warn me off this before I dropped the cash.
Thanks all.

From what I've read, the battery storage tubes of the LMT Crane stock are too small to fit an A cell. You might have some luck with AA batteries, however...

Just out of curiousity, did you hear from someone who tried it? Admittedly, it would make sense that - especially in real steel - the tubes wouldn't be designed to leave any room for its intended cargo to rattle around. I was inspired by a picture of one for sale and the fact it looked exactly like the guts of my airsoft one. Anyone out there have a real steel sopmod stock they can stuff an N cell into and see what gives?
Thx ILLusion.

I did a lot of research on it several years ago when photos were published from the Karzai assassination attempt and Paul Bremner security detail. At the time, there were no airsoft Crane stocks available. I can't remember where I read that information from, or what the specific details were, so I can't prove what I'm saying is the truth. I can only remember that the source was reliable.
The LMT Stock should be able to hold CR123 cells. CR123 cells are a tad smaller in diameter than A cells. I don't know how much play there is in the tubes to fit in an A cell, but I'm sure once you add wiring and heatshrink tubing, the A cells will be much larger than expected. |

hmm.. . . . . yeah. Just for shits n' giggles I opened up my m900a, removed the CR123s and tried to stick my old NiCd pack in there... it would fit (diameter wise) except for the wiring. It would seem the issue would be with cutting a groove lengthwise down both sides of the inner tube to allow for that. Easier said than done I'm thinking.
