they use to give them out as rewards for MLOC (minimum level of competence) training every year every soldier has to complete MLOC or now worrior training on basic skills ie fireing standard C-7 ,comms, first aid, navigation, weapons knowlage, mine training as well as NBC-D, it also included a 12k ruck march followed by a 100m firemans carry or a 5k run in full fighting order (helmet webbing rifle) both had to be completed in a certain time. based on the score you recieved a gold silver or bronze pin.

I don't believe they're issued anymore, but just to cover one thing that Gunner didn't touch on, they're worn on DEU (parade uniform) tunics, not berets.

The Warrior program ended a couple years ago, so the badges are no longer given out.

41 Brigade is a Reserve brigade and that is the Brigade patch and not a cap badge. So it's a cloth badge and not metal. If your trying to portray a unit within the brigade here's what you have to pick from.
* The Calgary Highlanders Calgary, Alberta infantry * The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Edmonton, Alberta infantry * A SqnThe South Alberta Light Horse Medicine Hat Armoured * B Sqn The South Alberta Light Horse Edmonton, Alberta Armoured * King's Own Calgary Regiment (RCAC), Calgary, Alberta Armoured * 20th Field Regiment RCA Edmonton, Alberta Artillery * 78 F Bty 20th Field Regiment RCA Red Deer, Alberta Artillery * 18th Air Defence Regiment RCA Lethbridge, Alberta Artillery * 33 Field Engineer Squadron (33 FES) Calgary, Alberta * 8 Field Engineer Regiment (8 FER) Edmonton, Alberta |
