Gauging interest in Safariland Desert Eagle .50 holsters
Hi everyone,
Yes, another Desert Eagle post. Those who know me personally will understand. I'm sure I'm not the only fan of Desert Eagles on this forum. Anyone who loves them probably knows how difficult it is to find a quality holster made to fit them specifically. I just received my Glock holster from Duff's Safariland group order and I'm very impressed with their quality. I like it even more than my Blade-Tech holsters (Blade-Tech *will* do one-offs for Eagles on certain models at a US$10 additional charge). So here's the deal - Safariland *does* do custom holsters, but they have to be ordered in pretty massive quantities. I'm gauging interest on this forum and just about any forum I can find for Desert Eagle afficiandos to voice their interest in having a Safariland Desert Eagle holster. This would be for a standard 6" length barrel in .50 cal. Colour would probably be black unless Safariland count multiple colours as a same-run quantity. Please post here or PM regarding what model you would most be interested in. If you frequent other forums where you think members may be interested, please link them here as well. The more feedback or confirmations I receive, the more I'd be willing to take on this venture. I will leave this thread up into the end of January - if there's a reasonable interest I should have more final details by then. Thanks in advance to everyone who participates. Alan. |

How many is "massive"?
This number is pretty important as it kind of defines what can be reasonably acheived. The 6004 holster I have appears to be drape formed ABS plastic. I think they hand form it around a male blank form. Nice thing about ABS is that it takes paint pretty well. There's lots of stuff which keys into ABS well so there's lots of colour flexibility there. Get flat black as it's probably the most popular colour and buyers can spray on their own colours. Get them to use the standard mounting hole pattern so your holster is compatible with all their other attachments like drop leg thingys and hip paddles too.
