ics ak74m; where can i get it? upgrades or not?
just as the title says. i've read up on macguyver's review (and the ten pages after) and random stuff i found from search. rule, faq, read em. this is a large community (all of canada? hello?) so i figgured this would be the place to get advice. i was considering a mac11 at first, but i do like the looks/handling of the ak a little more, so i can do without the blowback/asphyxiation/explosions. this is going to end up as a LOOK WHAT I"VE GOT ZOMG!!!/plinker. i've also read up on all sorts of defects, like poor feeding, the turbo 2000, a dried-out seal somewhere, and the like. several places tell me "zomg d00d, upgrading ics iz death, d00d!". i dont plan on upgrading, unless there is something i REALLY should for only a litte more moolah? so then, which retailer would have one in stock/closest to edmonton? i think macguyver said he got his from double eagle armoury, but i'm too lazy to click the back button. i want to buy optics from pyramyd air, as i've read (see?! i do plenty of reading! no need to hit me)
good things about them, plus i cant go wrong with their price. but will customs let a mount/scope pass through? yes, there was one mount from russia which got in, but i've heard customs only checks some of the incoming packages. and what about the hi-caps? how much winding will i have to do? (READ a post that said one winding in the middle of firing) to be honest, i loathe hi-caps for that awful rattling. i'd take 7 70rnd mags any day, but i AM saving up for my next computer. oh, and finally, i've got an idea. my friends are constantly going to paintball outings, and if the field [urban paintball] allows for it, i'll bring along my little friend there! [yeah yeah, biodegradeable bbs] i recall last game i needed cover fire to move up on the other team. my teammates, with their short supply of paintballs, mildly fired perhaps three rounds towards the other direction while i aquired 5 [count em, five] happy marks on me. i get wet at the thought of spraying off a hail of bbs towards their direction while the rest of em charge forward, yelling "MERCY!" yeah. i fantasize alot. and talk too much. could you tell? *edit i know there are classifieds, but i'm not even out of high school yet. (droc, please, PLEASE, do not tie my mittens together. i need them seperate so i can drink earl grey tea and watch the history channel on the weekends while polishing my target airguns so they look nice when i go to shoot 10 metre.) First, get age-verified. If you are not 18+, forget it.
Reading the FAQ should have told you about the low wisdom of Just Plinking or Showing Off. There is a Canadian Retailer list you can click on at the top of EACH page you read here. Pick one. From what you just wrote, I severely doubt you read the FAQ at all. If you are over 18, go to a game/meet. Get age-verified at the same time, look at the guns, look at hi-caps and find out how they work, etc. Or read some more. |

Right now there are two for sale in the 'for sale' section.
get age-verified and you can check them out. |

What EXACTLY do you want to know? Maybe sum it up in easy point form or something and the gods of ASC should be able to answer it for you.

[vent] well, first off, i understand the canadian airsoft community hisses and scratches at those underage. i can vouch that nearly all the graduates are your typical grads, the kind you would expect to have a clear soft for testing "manliness". which is why i'm not surprised half of you already want to cut my throat. i just ask for advice, not advising you all to brandish these in public. i've read the FAQ. i'm guessing you say i dont because i intend to display it, plink with it, and perhaps upgrade it. i dont plan on upgrading anything dramatic. i do quote someone as saying, "as soon as you open the mech box the durability goes WAY down". if there are parts i should look into getting, i wouldnt mind if someone told me. never did i say i was going to turn this into a flare launcher.i plink at less than 10 metres, so even airsoft guns give me the accuracy i'm looking for. i have a proper airgun pellet stop. probably also because i want to import some optics. none of the dealers here have the scope i'm looking for. i've e-mailed the asc armoury several times but have not yet recieved a reply. i know they are busy.(yeah, there are retail links at the top page. half of them are defunct[007] or dont sell actual guns[bb bastard, metal tech, etc] OR dont have anything in stock * ) [/vent]
where would you suggest i get one , what are my chances of getting a lemon, how much should it cost(the gun, a mount, $50USD scope) when all is said and done, and how much winding is involved with a hicap? thats it. i thank those of you that dont mind helping a minor. |

1) Check the Canadian retailers listed above. If they don't have it, oh well..... 2) The gun should cost you around $550. Optics, mounts, batteries, mags, slings, rails, etc will all be extra. 3) Wind hi-caps as you need in order to fire. That's all. No tricks there. As far as the minor thing goes, nobody is going to sell to you until you are 18. Importing is impossible, so I guess you're going to need to wait a little bit.

thanks mcguyver. as far as being 18, my parents are making the purchase and the gun will never see sunlight unless its coming through a window, or if i'm firing at the other team at a private field. i already posses several rifle cases. again, thanks!

no one can be told what the airsoft is... you have to see it for yourself.

You should re-read the FAQ. We're not going to help a minor get their hands on airsoft. End of story. |

Your parents can get in DEEP legal crap if they do not follow the laws either. And guess what, they must be age-verified too if they want to buy anything. Stop arguing and trying to find loopholes. If you just bother to follow the existing rules and options, all will be fine. So far you dont show any effort. |

Before you suggest anything, be aware that he is breaking laws in Canada already.
Italy is probably far different as to what is allowed. We do not support liars. |
