PDI 170 spring?

Hey guy's sorry for a new thread on this, but I coulden't find anything in search.

Would an EG1000 motor with an 8.4 / 1200 mini handle a PDI 170% upgrade spring? I'm not to familiar with the internals of my gun, I don't want to end up with it broken, and no where to go.

PDI's aren't the best springs to start with, the consistency from spring to spring with the same rating is fairly large and they use the old linear design. Springs from other companies (Prometheus, SystemA, HurricanE, etc.) have the non linear design (the amount the spring compresses at different points along its length are different) that give much more consistent fps both between springs and between shots.

The closest thing to a PDI 170% in non-linear is an M120 meaning its designed to shoot 120m/s. What version mechbox is this in? A spring of that strength will blow apart a stock TM ver.2 fairly quickly so you'd need a reinforced mechbox or a different version.

I think an EG1000 will push a PDI 170% or an M120 but I'm unsure about the mini battery, you will have a damn slow rate of fire if nothing else. I recommend either a weaker spring (M110) or a large battery...or both. I will repeat what many of the most experienced Canadian players have said: the field limit for velocity is a LIMIT, not a GOAL (I only say this because a PDI 170% will bring you right up to ~400fps, the limit at most fields)

EG1000 is fine but an 8.4 won't have enough juice to power the 170% a 9.6v is suitable for upgrades over 350 fps. this set-up would run fine on a stock gearbox with metal bushings (but not for long)

The only problem with a bigger battery is my fore-grip. I'm using a TM M733, the fore-grip is JUST big enough for the battery I have now, although I will be getting a larger one with a full stock I should be ordering shortly. Also, about my mechbox, what would you sugest I should do about it, are there any "upgrade kit's" I could purchase?

One of your primary problems is that no matter what you do, where will you play?
Your profile states you are 14, which pretty much breaks any and all the rules of this website if you already got a gun.

I strongly suggest you leave the gun as it is, and put it away until you can legally play. Whoever bought it should read about the laws involved for their sake and yours.

Besides, upgrades are not an easy task.

I appologize if I have upset you in anyway, and I am not going to give you the "I am a mature 14 year old" arguement. But, I will say this- I am a SMART 14 year old. I don't rarely take the gun out, and infact keep it locked with my fathers hunting rifles. I haven't shown it to friends, and the only people who know about it are myself, and my family. Also, I was informed that the "legal age" to play, is only a rule enforced by most playing fields, and that it was mostly the hosts' decision if I played or not. If it is this big of an issue, I will forget about the whole thing.

have some fields have the 16+ to play rule while they parents superivises.
and in some fields its just the 18+ rule.

but 18+ to own a gun is the LAW and we aren't try to be mean but the law is the law. until then you can keep your gun but whenever you play (16+) your parents needs to supervise you.

And greylocks, I just wanted to let you know, since I have been a member on these forums, all I have tried to do is gain the respect of all of you, in hopes that maybe you will accept me for being knowledgable enough on this subject to own an AEG/GBB or any other type of Airsoft gun.

I'm impressed. Please understand that there are pretty stiff rules involved in all this, and they can really bite. It can get extremely bad for your parents.

Until it is crystal clear what category airsoft guns fall under, they will be seen as Replicas. That means you cant own one until you are 18, or even use one without the direct supervision of one of your parents.

That is another reason why worrying about the internals is pointless right now.

Thank you so much for not bitching back about it. I bet if you showed up with your parents to an event, you may be able to at least try gaming. No promises, but it's not impossible.

To all other under-18 folks. This kid's behavior IS a good example to follow. I dont agree that he got a gun somehow, but better for him to realize it than to argue about it.

Thank you Greylocks. I am very happy that you atleast understand my situation. I will take your statement in my quote as a compliment, and leave my gun packed up. Until I have gone to a few games with my parents, and have been proved mature enough for play, that's where it will stay.

Getting back on topic, I don't think you should bother upgrading your M733. I recommend saving your money for a newer AEG at a later date, and stick with the stock M733 until you've got a few games under your belt. If it doesn't suit the way you want to play, then you can think about upgrading it.

That is excellent advice. Only from playing a few games will you figure out what type of upgrades you need. For instance I found that shot consistancy is more useful than raw FPS. You may even find the M733 isn't the right gun for you, so why upgrade it if you are going to sell or trade it 6 months later.
