Question How do I fit a large battery in a CA AUG A2?

Hey I've got a CA AUG A2 and it only takes mini batterys. I would like to fit a large 8.4V in it so I can go on games longer but theres no room. Does anybody have any suggestions or ways of doing that? I don't want to have to tape the battery on the outside of the gun either:P.

Purchase 3 or 4 mini batteries. Go for the Intellect 8.4v 1400mah Nimh or equivalent. That will give you all the energy you'll ever need.

The other option is duct tape or similar on the outisde of the gun for the battery (fugly) or a battery sling. Both will require you to run your gun's wiring to the outside of the gun.

I would just stick with mini batteries. When I had my Marui AUG, 2 minis would last me all day and then some. One battery was good for about 1600-1700 rounds.

Well I have a 600 mah mini right now. It goes about 700 rounds. What size minis were you using? Because that sounds like a lot for just a mini.

There's a mid-way alternative using "AUG" style batteries. Specifically, A cells (as opposed to 2/3A for minis and SubC for large batteries) that usually get up to around 2500mAh with lower internal resistance than 2/3A cells. However, they require a little bit of fitment work in the battery area, but not as much as other common mods like a P90 J-battery.

If you want to stick to minis though, go for ones with Elite 1500mAh cells, they're better and cheaper than the Intellect 1400mAh. www.cheapbatterypacks.com for all your purchasing needs. Check out www.wgcshop.com not for buyin' but just for the shapes necessary to fit into guns.

I built a 2600 mah battery for the AUG. Unfortunately, their discharge rate was poor and would not turn over the gun. Mah rating is not everything either. The battery has to be able to discharge current quickly for AEG use, not over a long period (16 hours at 150mah or something stupid like that). The GP cells I used sucked for that.

There was zero mods needed for the 8.4v 2500 using AA cells. It fit like a glove. If you can get one of those built with better cells than slow-discharge GP, then you'd be set. But it might be cheaper and easier to buy 2 pre-made minis.

Don't forget to buy a quality charger. If it costs less than $50, it's not worth your while.

Thanx for your input harleyb, much appreciated.

Um I spent 60 bucks on a charger from 007 "Rapid Charger (charges 7.2V, 8.4V, 9.6V batteries or all capacities)". I thought it was decent.

2500mAh AA? Where'd you find those?

I'm using 2500mAh A cells from CBP (they've only got one kind, store rebranded from China I think) and they crank my stock G&P M4 ALMOST as well as my 3700mAh large pack with GP cells; 9.6V both.

The Aug Battery pack uses 4/5 A size cells, either 8.4V or 9.6V pattern.

I use the the 9.6V 1500mAh aug battery pack. It would usually last me the full day of play. Only a few times did i have to break out my extra 8.4V 600mAh batt.

If you decided to use that battery pack, its a pain in the butt to find. I think the cheapest place would be from the states at http://www.onlybatterypacks.com/main.asp.

Atm I got Kos-mos making me a 9.6V large batt with a longer wire on it so i can use a external batt bag.

They are GP 2600 Series part #260AHC. That's what's printed on them. I got them locally from Battery World. They tabbed them up for me and I just soldered the wire leads to the tabs and installed the heatshrink.

They say charge for 16 hours at 245ma. I tried to charge them at 500ma (the lowest setting on any of my chargers) and they heat up quite nicely and after 2 hours I'm forced to remove them due to excessive heating. The batteries are not defective, they are recommended for flashlights and electronics, items that use small amounts of current over long periods of time. The rules governing Mah ratings say a battery that delivers 1 amp over 100 hours is the same rating as a battery that delivers 200 amps in 1/2 an hour. But they are obviously different.

An AEG requires the large current output in the shorter time, rather than a calculator that requires a small current over a long time. But you don't know until you buy the battery and see the rating on it after you've paid for it (YEEESH!!!).

I'm using the 9.6V 1500mAh 'square' AUG battery. No modifications required, but an extremely tight fit. It lasted me 2 days of gaming and basement plinking between before it started to slow down.

So a 9.6V works with the AUG? Sorry:P, I'm still a bit of a nOOb when it comes to my gun. Are you a trigger happy kinda guy or do you take your time and scope things out? Whats the difference, if you don't mind me asking between the 9.6V and the 8.4V? Is it just the amps??

well

Tuna- I seen you shoot and you don't shoot a whole lot although that gun of yours definitely has some range to it, wont underestimate it again!

I would recommend the battery sling, all the power you could ever ask for and allow you the use of large batteries too.

I think I know where you are asking and based on what you said here and what you got, you should be fine for the 13th.
