hey skydiver, yup it is simple. your guns will not make it across unless you happen to fnd a retailer up here willing to import them for you which is not cheap to do.

Gear is okay.

Unless you have some crazy custom kitted out gun that you absolutly can't part with, it will be MUCH easier to sell where you are and buy new once you get in Canada.

In Canada we need to have an import liscense to bring them into the country for resale. But it is not a cheap liscense to get and maintain (yearly fee's and such). There are a few retailers up here though that do sell G&P and body kits, etc. Just about anything you can find they can also import for you. Retailers are linked at the top of the page under Canadian Retailers, check them out for what they do carry, and you can always email them to see if they can get what you want and a price.\

Where are you moving here from? And do you know where your moving to here?

heh heh I got a deal on it from one of the retailers I know and paid way under the retail I've seen up here. Typically and your going to shit your pants they run about $1000 up here.

There quite a few players in the Edmonton market, and most of the guys I either know or have had dealings with are pretty decent. So you wont have any problems finding people to play with. If you check the links at the top of the page under community you can find their local forums.

I've already signed on to the EAR site, but their forum ,you don't seem to be able to post on.
I paid about 700$cn for mine.
Is there a market for real hardcore milsim in canada.I am partner in a company over here involved in organising top drawer milsim events- usually at ex mod (ministry of defence) sites, cool forts (napoleonic) airfield and ex army/airforce bases.
We will be looking in the future to perhaps running events in the uk, canada, and US.It's a big market out there and us airsoft need a different rush.
Are pyrotechnics regularlly used over there?

Milsims kind of depend on where you are. And what do you consider to be big? Keeping in mind that the market up here is a lot smaller, and our player base is spead out over a lot of land. There have been several multiprovince games up here though with several hundred players, but a lot of them are smaller 20 to 30 players games.

The guys in Winnipeg have stepped up the game the past year though with Keystone Strike which they are plannig on doing part.3 of next year (24 hour game, heli, vehicles, pyro, etc).

Pyro really depends on the type and local field rules. Not so much on the flares and flashes, but we do use smoke (some more then others).

Winnipeg is mil-sim central. Its a good place to start if thats what youre lookin for. Go Lo or Go Home

FPS limits depend on the field. Anywheres from 350 to 490 fps generally speaking.

FPS also range from Province to Province and local field.

typically: CQB is 300FPS max, outdoors 400 to 415 max

Well

Skydiver- derpends on the field and ours are good up to basically 450 FPS depending on who you are and background. If you are a total ass we MAY let you throw BBS until you are proven safe. If you are the mature type, a lot less restrictions. We like to play safe and ensure that we are all playing to the same set of rules...

I'm one fo the Edmonton players Bloodsprt has referred to...

Skydiver, I'm not sure if you found the Newbie Guide yet, but you may want to read it. It will cover a lot of your questions.

Check the FAQ section also.

Oh, do not try to make sense of Canadian laws about airsoft. There is none.

well im an edmonton guy and on the forums there as well. basically what you need to do is post your intro and let people know who you are and then you will see the rest of the forums. it was made that way to stop the spammers/scammers who were starting to appear with scary regularity.

some pyrotechnics are used (usually smoke grenades) for games but its pretty limited. im sure more would be but they are both expensive and there is a danger in using them. in the summer if the grass is dry (you will find it surprisingly dry coming from england) there is a serious risk of causing a major fire if you are using pyrotechnics.
