Question Airsoft rocket launcher.

I was wondering what everyone thinks about a airsoft rocket launcher, the launcher will fire a completely reusable foam rocket, and on impact a nose pin will trigger the explosion of approximately 200 bb's. because i want to make the rocket out of foam (for safety reasons) the rocket shell may brake, but the replacement parts would be relatively cheap. the rocket would be propelled by compressed gas in the back of the rocket launcher.

let me know what you think, its just an idea right now and i don't want to build it until i know what the response would be.

We already use AT4's that fire nerf rockets. As well as an assortment of other goodies that Lance Co. ( ZeroDelay ) makes.

I think it would depend on what you use to "explode" the BBs on contact. I wouldn't fancy being hit with a firecracker, whether it was wrapped in foam or not.

Rockets exploading mechanism.

i have already made the exploding mechanism, all the bb's are fired out of 12 spring loaded compartments.

You may want to look at getting Lance's AT4, I know he's selling one in the Buy & Sell. Find yourself an age verifier and get approved and check the ad, it would save you an awful lot of R&D and manufacturing. His units are kick ass.

Rocket launcher

im not so much intrested in developing a rocket launcher as the rocket itself. all i have sean is foam rockets or nurf balls. im working on a rocket that is safe, reusable, and explodes with 200 bb's. i would put up the desighns but i dont want to give all of my idea away.

I have my doubts that such a design could be developed to meet the criteria

a) explode effectively
b) have effective range/accuracy

and most importantly

c)be safe enough that if it accidently hit a person there wouldn't be a problem.

If you can do this of course there would be interest. But otherwise this is a topic that comes up every few months usually by somebody with a few posts on the forum.

But who knows maybe you have a revolutionary idea and I hope that you do.

How are these types of weapons employed in a milsim, or in a game in general, I remember having a paintball bazooka, I know different game but it was useless, nothing could get up to velocity to make any kinda of indication that you were hit. How do these rockets take people out so to speak.

This is probably how it works. BBs are prechambered in a cylinder that moves back on contact with target to aline the bbs with the openings , sending the bbs flying in multiple directions... Hahaha.. gotta love these late night posts, eh? gahh...

The Deep Fire M72 still onley fiers the M203 gas BB shower shell. my new shell will fire out of the launcher and expload on impact.

and on blastyman's points. the rocket dose explode very well, it explodes 360 degrees around and away from the point of impact. on the range and accuracy point, the launcher i have designed will fire the rocket with compressed air, making the range fully adjustable. and the rocket will have stabilizer fins. on the point of safety, I'm still experimenting with materials to make the rocket out of, but at the same time a foam rocket fired at 150psi will hurt.

I guess this is like the posts you see every few months about someone wanting to build an airsoft gun from scratch. Zero Delay already makes the launcher, its kickass, and chances are yours won't be better. Like the AEG, the launchers been perfected. The exploding BB rocket sounds cool though. Instead of worrying someone will steal your idea, maybe Zero Delay can help you perfect it.
