Performance Airsoft - It's a no no
I'm just going to deliver this straight out. My cousins birthday is coming up, and, as stated in another thread, he has resently bought a CM030 G18C AEP from Buyairsoft.ca. Since I'm just so nice, I decided to order him an extra mag or two, so I was looking around, and I came across www.performanceairsoft.com. So to be safe I check the FAQ's and About Us pages, and to my dissapointment, they had less info that I've ever experienced. I mean, they had NOTHING important about them. They didn't say where they were located, and they didn't say any way to contact them on that page. Then I go to see, and they have free shipping on every item. Either that or it's a hidden cost taken out of your account without you knowing. I ended up at the contact us page, and to my surprise, they had a phone number. I phoned this number (long distance), and what sounded like a computer voice (Microsoft Sam style) came on for the message. Definitely did not sound like a real person. So, I'm ready to leave my message inquiring about their location and free shipping/where they ship, and the message machine was FULL. This must mean they don't check messages very often. So, in my opinion, they seem VERY sketchy. Their reviews are terribly short, too, which makes it seem to me that they just slapped them up themselves. Does anyone have anything positive to say about these guys?

You are 15 and ordering airsoft guns/parts? From a US site? Why?

Because he fits the demographic for that type of behavior....

As stated in another forum, yes I'm 15, but I'm NOT airsofting until I'm 18. My COUSIN ordered a G18C from Buyairsoft, and I wanted to get him extra mags for his birthday. I don't even own a gun, and don't plan to until I'm 18. Don't worry Greylocks, I've been flamed enough to stop trying. That deals with you thinking I'm buying guns for myself, now, to the international site. I am ordering this through international because I simply can't find ANY accessories for TM G18C AEP in Canada, and when I do it's out of stock. And, are you assuming they are from the U.S. or have you made contact with them?

Alright, thank you. That is all I wanted to know, aside from anyone doing business with them. I am not very informed when it comes to area code locations. Again, thank you, but has anyone does business with them?

They say straight out that they are in the US, even without the area code trace.
You have to be over 18 to access the classifieds here (even for accessories), so why dont you give that website's link (and ASC's) to your cousin? He wont have any problems at all. He can order stuff himself. You giving him links to look at is easy. Better yet, tell him to get an account here? You may not get many responses about sites that are outside Canada for reasons that have been mentioned often. Except from the primary exporters from Asia, most are not worth the effort and some stuff cannot be imported at all. I doubt the little magazine sticks would be an issue, but you never know. Age issues aside, imho if your gut reaction to a site is skepticism then you are probably right to avoid buying from them (where ever they are located). Would you hand your CC info over to some shifty dude in a run down store in an unfamiliar part of town? Probably not. Treat this the same way. You are taking a risk in any online purchases and although there are safeguards by using a credit card, wouldn't you just rather avoid the hassle?
I can't give you any info about Performance Airsoft because I have never used them or heard of them till this point (low post count alert!). If I was in your shoes, I would just get your cousin to order himself something in your price range and flip him some cash. You still come off like a star and at no risk to you. taa daa. |

Will do. Thanks for all the help guys. And Greylocks, I will give the address to my cousin, but giving him accessories for him was kind of a nice birthday thing. My family is very much into the "surprise" type of birthdays. Not to be rude or anything, it's just the way my family has always done things, and I like giving stuff to people without them buying it. But yeah, that aside thanks for the help.

Simple, find out the cost and give him the cash, plus the link. He'll get what he wants, you give him a gift.
I still would not order from the US. Apart from the ever-changing CBSA rules, there's the risk of getting screwed by the seller. I'd give him the address of ASC, tell him to get an account, verified, etc, and then he can buy pretty much what he wants. He can also buy more stuff later. And you dont get into any problems at all. |

Sounds good. Thanks for the advice, Greylocks. I'll pass it on to him.

Age Verification Removed Due To Trade Dispute

Edit: Another check only moments ago confirmed it. You don't have to be 18 to buy accessories it would seem.

I'm sorry but that is dead wrong. You do not need to be verified to access the gear or parts sections. Crap. Someone beat me to it. |
