Airsoft Ghost town 2008? *PICS ADDED*
My uncle is the head of a society that looks after and restores BC's oldest Ghost town by the name of Quesnel Forks. Located two hours north east of Williams Lake literally in the middle of nowhere! With a government camp site only a 2 minute walk from the ghost town and with large open fields, gravel pits, two rivers, etc it's a very lovely location.
Anyways he asked me about setting up a large airsoft game there. The ghost town is mainly made up of barely standing buildings although there are a couple they have restored. I have no idea how to even set one of these things up. It all depends on how many people decide to show up and such. I figure it would be neat to have a large game going along with a concession, there is a bandstand for a band to play, and things like that. Anyone have any clues about getting something like this started, how much to charge, etc? The town of Likely (where I live) is located half an hour before you get to Quesnel Forks. Likely has a pub, general store, gas station, propane store, restaurant, etc. There is no power at Quesnel Forks though so generators would be a must for recharging batteries and such. Anyways I was told to post this here to help get the word out. I need to see how many people would be interested in it, what should be charged for it, and WHAT DAYS should it be held on? We were looking into getting in at Seebe. How close is this to Likely?
You would probably get alot of interest pending date from Joint Operations Calgary, but it might be better to go through BCAC to run one. |

give the boys at BCAC a call and see what they have to say or talk to gish here on ASC and he could give u some good tips.

yeah, give them a call.
Although it doesn't look too far from the Alberta border. Maybe 3 hours or 4 from Edmonton? So JOC might be an option if BCAC doesn't work out. |

Google maps puts the trip at just under 12 hours worth of driving (979 km)
From Vancouver it's 614 km (about 7 hours 47 mins) From Kelowna it's 510 km (about 6 hours 37 mins) Last edited by Drache; June 2nd, 2007 at 23:54.. |

set up a game there and you will have no problems getting signups
there arent a lot of good urban type environments to play in look at the ferry; loads of people come from all over to play and it isnt that big of a play area too |

I'll hopefully be going down there soon so I can get pictures of the entire area so people will have a better understanding of what is there.

I'm thinking of holding it on the first weekend in June, that would mean one year from today. Anyone have any better ideas? I'd normally say the May long weekend but it's pretty busy in town because of the softball playoffs and the parade and such.

Like I said I plan on having a concession down there along with a band if I can. The large field is perfect for camping and there is also a very large gravel pit, tons of trees...
Just wish there was someone close who could come take a look and help me figure out things lol! |
