General Questions About Airsoft...

NOTE: To anyone and everyone who reads/posts on this, feel free to post any questions and answers to any airsoft related things.

Hey, i was cruising around, and i noticed that on the CA M24 sniper rifles, the rifle with the non-adjustable hop-up costs more (http://www.007airsoft.com/products/htm/spring-ca.htm). Now i admit totally that i am a noob to this sport, which is why i am trying to find out as much about it as possible. I was always under that imporession that an adjustable hop-up would be better than a fixed. but again, i could be very wrong. opinions please...

i decided not to post this in its own thread, but i was doing more research, and in terms of performance, how do CA and TM stack up to each other? for example, if i had a TM M4 and a CA M4, which would be a better buy? I am aware that TM has been the first, but CAs are full metal and come with High-cap mags. so i am at a lost? Do they perform similar to each other? or is one a better buy over the other?

It's more expensive because it's barrel is fluted.

It offers some barrel rigidity (that's not necessary for airsoft), but to manufacture a fluted barrel, it does cost more than a straight one, and hence, the added cost.

If you want something closer to realism, get the fluted, otherwise, you're fine with a straight barrel.

As for your question regarding CA and TM, that question's been asked and answered about a million times. Check the airsoft guns discussion forums for the x-billion number of different responses on the issue.

CA's armalites have come pretty close to TM since their M15A4 series. For the money I believe the CA is the better buy right now. Unless your planning a custom build and are going to be replacing almost everything anyway.

Any CA M24 you'll purchase today will be the version 2 and will come with an adjustable hop up. That is one of the things that annoys me, Ken hasn't fixed his website in years. I bought my CA M24 in 2003 and I got it well used and abused, and it was a V2. I'm not sure when the V2 came out, but it was at least 6-7 years ago.

Fluted barrel model is same as bull barrel model, just looks different and weighs 90g less (barely noticable, considering once you outfit your rifle with a bipod and scope, you are well above the 12lbs mark.

And, the CA M24 is more an experts rifle than a beginners model just because it takes a certain amount of work and knowledge to get it reliable and accurate.

i am hell bent on being a sniper, thats the truth. however, i will get an AEG first, to get used to the sport and then if i ever do get a sniper rifle, i will be able to appreciate it more, such as the better accuracy and such. from what i have read, i am better off spending the mon ey on either a TM or CA as opposed to a JG (who makes TM clones). Between the CA and TM, it does sound like they are the better buy cause of the metal bodies and the high cap mags. Does anyone know how the mech boxes of the TM and the CAs stack up to each other? cause its one thing for the CA to be more durable, but if it cant shoot well then thats no good.

P.S: great sig btw, though i am unfamilier with the contex of some of the words.

what work are you referring to? how is it more of an experts rifle? after a play a bit with an AEG, is there a sniper rifle that you would recommend?
