Need Recommendations on AK
Hey guys,
So now that i have my TM %100 Clone AK-47(Regular) im thinking of making it into a designated marksmen style. I am not looking for some 600fps lay down in a field and choose your targets I want something that is fairly accurate and packs some punch however, i also want to be able to use it indoors. Anyone have parts recommendations? I am thinking i need at least: Metal bushings New Spring(not sure what kind yet) Tightbore(have heard rumors about the clone i got coming with a .03 but will need to confirm) Detachable Bi-pod illuminated scope Thanks guys, Dodge *EDIT* Also how much am i looking at to upgrade this? and if i couldn't get all at once what would you guys recommend first

Rumors are just that... rumors. Everyone said the new CA25 shot 420fps right out of the box. I have the latest one, practically fresh out of the factory and it shoots 350fps (with a laylax piston head).
Check and if it doesn't grab a 6.03mm tightbore. |

People have chronied their Aftermath AKs at doing 350+ fps with .2g BBs. Thats more then enough for indoors, or even outdoors, since the limit is 400fps (out). Get a quality tightbore and some heavier ammo (.28 or so).
Cheers, Alex

If your gun chronies at about 340 to 350fps with .20, dont touch it. More than that is not needed.
Speed does not equal accuracy. If it's really a TM clone, all you would need are bushings, a spring, and maybe a spring guide. But the odds are you need nothing at all. Dont use the coke can chrony, get a real test done. |

If you read this right, all you need is for the gun to be tested by a real speed chronograph and most likely nothing else.
If it already shoots at about 340fps, you dont need to upgrade anything. How's that for a cheap setup? |

Very, Also does 110 sound about right for a chrono?

A good chrony is a bit hard to find (dont know where you live) but they sell for between 120 and 150$.
Most big groups/games should have one on site. |

Hey. I actually was looking to get an ak and make it into a sort of al-tabruk style dmr, but funds are lacking as of now. However i would recommend if you are a looks person on your gun a good PSO scope. So far the only PSO scope place i know is on ebay and for a 3-9x scope that you would get is about 400. BTW its directly from russia. But u could get a (HK/China) clone with a 4x scope on it for about 150ish. It all depends on you, but both are illuminated and you get your choice of color for illumination. Hope it helps.

There's a company in Ottawa that sells those scopes, they look fantastic.

Real PSO scopes usually don't cost more than 200 from retailers. I got mine for around $80 off ebay.
This retailer has pretty good selection. http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/ You will need a side mount rail for PSO/POSP scope. You need to drill the body to install side mount. Or you can get Western rail style mount that goes on top of the gun.

Unless you like the wood stocks or side mounted rails go for the railed fore grips for red dots. The side mounted rails are about your only reasonably priced choice for scopes. If you are staying in the 330FPS range maybe you should consider a koba twist barrel. Illusion started a thread on them. I have used a 6.01mm for a couple of months now and they are nice too and give a 15+FPS in my experience. You also might want to reshim your gears and use a POM piston head to increase the lifespan of your mechbox. The Prometheus soft (purple) type hop up are the best if used.
hope this helps and good luck, mateba |

At 330fps, you dont need to change anything for the gun's performance. If you do, it's wasted money at the moment. A year or two dwon the road, start thinking about it then. You'll know more anyway.
Scopes and side rails or top rails? For those parts look at the retailer's websites. You'll just have to buy those that fit the AK and do some drilling, tapping or replacing. I use this site for AK/Dragunov stuff: http://www.eastwave.ca/index.html |
