Question What is more important: Automatic or More Speed?

Hi, I am relatively new to airsoft, and only have a bunch of secondary guns. I am going to purchase a primary weapon, probably an Ak-47, and I will be using it to play airsoft. I have seen a whole variety of different kinds and I originally wanted an AEG. I did notice that spring loaded ones go a lot faster, but they are not automatic. This will be my first primary airsoft weapon.

I was wondering what I should go with, an AEG that is automatic, or a spring loaded gun that is more powerful?

Thanks.

well here is an example of one of the fast spring ones, this one is cheap and I am going to get a TM but this is what I saw that was faster, and there are more.

You can upgrade an AEG to shoot just as hard as one of those comfortably, and some AEGs come stock shooting just at very high velocities (before the argument 'some spring rifles come like that' is used).

Airsplat is fucking stupid, don't listen to them. Also, that AK shoots 400 FPS with .12s, and you're using .20s- and with the reputation Airsplat has for getting velocities right, it's going to be closer to 200 FPS or less.

That gun you linked to is most likely crap. And you won't want a spring gun for an airsoft game. The 400 FPS w/ .12's as it says is probably nowhere near where it actually shoots. And they use .12's as a reference, so you know it probably isn't good.

.12s @ 400fps is equivalent to 314fps with 0.20g BBs, which is the standard weight for measurement

This is Airsoft Canada. Therefore it's safe to assume you're Canadian, which means you couldn't buy from there anyways.

Just a word of advice. When ever I've heard anyone say "more speed" it never ends well. One time involved a lathe.. another.. a car.

Dont trust the words of retailers like airsplat. I perfer to think of their dealings as airshat. They tend to bend the truth in more ways than one.
Although it maybe tempting to buy out of country, the truth of the matter is, Canada has importation laws regarding airsoft, but that wont really stop you if you are determined because as it stands, Canada it self has suppliers as well, at first glance you may think there prices are higher, but due to the way airsoft is currently in Canada there are legal and importation fees to factor into our prices.

When you say, go faster, Im assuming you mean the BB's travelling speed. As it stands airshat may quote 400fps, but using .12gs that doesnt mean a thing. A blade of grass could deflect a .12g

Please take some time to review our FAQ section of this website, it will answer many questions you may have regarding importation, a good gun to choose for those starting off, as well as other useful info.
