What is the difference between the M14 and the M14 SOCOM. Is it just that the SOCOM version is shorter? I ask because I might be interested in buying one and I saw allt he cool addons for the M14 I wana know if they will fit the SOCOM version.

i have seen things such as the RAS unit fit the M14 Socom if i can recall, but i could be mistaken. Between the two of them, there is not much else different. The Socom has a better quality body i have read, heavier and a better feel. It also has the 20mm sight mount in the barrel cover. Other than that, they are exactly the same internally.

well if by C.Q. you mean like 4 inches shorter, then yes you are right. I know it looks shorter, but in realilty its not that noticeable.

not a huge difference between the 2 to be honest with ya...I had a SOCOM it was a sweet gun, heavy mother lol not realy that much more CQBable than the std M14. As far as addons i think it'll be alright. If youre doing the top rail itll be fine, you might just have to take off the stock lil rail. If youre gonna get an EBR thats where you *Might* have a problem due to the shortet inner barrel.

ANother thing about the M14 SOCOM...inner barrel length is weird and TM M14s have special barrels, so if you ever want a tightbore down the road youd have to get a M14 length one and have it cut down. Unless RedWolf has some SOCOM ones by now.

Prometheus already makes a shorty 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel in 420mm length (versus 500mm for standard m14 length)

none...besides a hella confusing mechbox XD haha other than that its a good gun =)

ya, i have heard the mechbox is difficult ot take apart cause its a version 7, so its not that common and such. I have also heard that the fire selector switch's internal connector is made out of cheapo plastic, but the person i talked to said it has yet to actually give him trouble. All in all, it shoots hard, accurate and just get a gunsmith to install any upgrades for you until you get the hang of it yourself, as you would for any first AEG regardless of the version of mechbox.

srry, i meant as in the internals. there is this plastic piece that goes around the mechbox that is attached to the fire slector on the outside of the gun. It is this piece that is weak.

hey firerat, ive played with you and your brother a coupe times out at bigfoot. the m14 is a wonderful gun, for bigfoot it would be really nice since it is a fairly open field. it might get a little tight in side the buildings but its nothing a little practice cant fix ive had my tm for a while now (and had a stocker before that) and i have no complaints. btw the stock tm m14 has more range and accuracy then most stock guns on the market, just ask six4 about it. anyways ttyl if you have any more questions just post here, or send me a message on msn.
