Top M249 Tighbore ????

Hey everyone, I guess my weeb searching skills have become retarded. I have HEARD that there are tight bore barrels availible for the TOP M249 but I can't find one.

I don't think i can use a regular AEG tightbore because the hop-up is consideralbly different then a "regular" AEG, plus the OD is noticalbly larger then a "regular" barrel.

I would love a konobi (sp) twist barrel as I am not pushing huge FPS (360)
Any ideas????

I wonder if it is the same as the one used in the TOP M60. I installed one earlier this year for Red_Tiger, dunno where he got it from, but it came with the hop up unit installed, rubber included, literally every thing to make it an easy drop in installation. So ya, they are out there and no, they are nothing like regular AEG barrels.

by what you are describing I would assume that they are the same, mine is one piece. the hop up is adjusted by an allen key

I wouldn't recommend a Tanio Koba Twist barrel for anything above 330fps.

Why are you putting a tightbore on a SAW? Id imagine you want to spray a large area wouldnt you?
Just my thoughts.

Depends on how you play with your SAW. I have a tightbore barrel on my TOP M249 and it increases accuracy a ton. If you want your SAW to work like a SAW should, stick with the stock barrel. It'll simulate a beaton zone like a real steel SAW would have, which is great for keeping the heads down of the troops you run into while the riflemen take them out. If you want a big heavy accurate AEG get a tightbore.
I switch between barrels depending on where I'm playing, terrain, etc.

1) Yes

2) to get a little more FPS out of it, it is for a Top M249 and with out converting to a PGC mechbox at $550 I can only go to 350FPS with the guarder conversion but that is it

I am starting to think that the $100 it's going to cost is better spent else where.....like 1/20th of a systema

Ibby are you running the stock mech box, Angs/guarder or PGC and have you had any issues? I have the angs/guarder and hope that will work for me this upcoming outdoor season, if not i will go PGC

I'm running the Angs cylinder and stock lower with some Guarder stuff thrown in. The only issues I've had are a stripped piston, and the upper mechbox retainer grooves on the lower half of the mechbox cracking off. The Guarder lower housing sides solve that problem. Other than that it's the most robust mechbox I've ever seen/worked on. I have seen the PGC version and didn't like it. I've also seen the CA and Star versions, which are basically just modified regular AEG mechboxes which suffer from the same problems. I bought mine used from Bigmatty, and Saryet was the original owner. Between all of us there have been tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of BBs through this thing and it's still going strong.
Some other mods I've done include a bit stronger motor. I searched through the motors a local hobby shop had in stock until I found one I liked that had the same screw retention positions. Made a bit of a difference. I've also made the entire thing metal. It pretty much had all metal parts when I got it, but I managed to find a couple real steel parts to replace the remaining plastic with. A G&P RAS front end was a nice addition too. The best mod I did was making a quick change mag system. It allows the user to just swap the whole box mag out with a fresh one without having to unplug anything or try to shove BBs through the fill hole. I just made a little quick connect system where the box mag attaches. Works great.
