AUG countersniper project
Hey guys first post at ASC... ive been lurking for quite a while and decided this would be a good first post. I have been doing some research on the topic but a solid thread has not been made as of yet.
As is right now i have a bone stock TM Aug civi with no hand rail. Ideally id like to turn the gun into a countersniper/long range gun with the focus more on short bursts and semi auto then a fully auto assualt weapon. (picking guys off at a distance ... with controlled shots instead of spray and pray) The biggest thing i have been considering is an extended barrel 650 or 590mm. As well id like to be shooting anywhere from 350-400 but the biggest deal for me again is going to be consistancy. In my opinion there is absolutely no point in crazy upgrades if i cant repeat the same shot over and over again. If you guys could help me out interms of what i would need to get myself a reliable consistant gun that would be awesome. Im fairly new to upgrading guns and id like to hear any feedback from you guys. Thanks alot Dewan Last edited by Draganta; November 12th, 2007 at 02:23.. Reason: pictures |

personally. i dont see the need to extend the barrel even further unless you ARE going to be sniping. The AUGs already got a 509mm barrel.
However if you are gonna go for a longer barrel your 2 choices are this, either a custom made HBAR, or get the silencer kit. aka this http://redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/ai...l?prodID=15966 and just keep that over top of a longer inner barrel. As far as internals, go for a stronger spring, prolly an M110. and a 6.03 tightbore. I'm not entirely aware what TM AUGs internals are like, but those are good to start with. |

the phantom kit russian suggests is cool but they are a bit lacking. I had one on my aug that I just sold there are 2 little set screws that hold that hole unit in place and sometimes when you lift the gun by the barrel the hole phantom kit slides off. Plus unless you are a big dude the phantom kit makes an AUG a really long gun, I am 6.1 and it felt to big form me all the time
If I was to do it again I would stick with the stock length barrel. I had a the PSG1+ (650mm) barrel in my aug and had it completely upgraded to shoot 420. In the end the $1900 I spent on the gun was a waste as I got out ranged by every joker with a PTW |

I also suggest sticking with the stock barrel length. For a DM setup, you'll be looking at:
- AUG length tightbore (recommend Prometheus or KM) - Aftermarket hopup bucking (recom. Prometheus or Systema) - M100 (mid-300s fps) or 110 (high-300s fps) non-linear spring (recom. Prometheus) - Metal bearingless bushings (any brand) - Bearing piston head, cylinder head and air nozzle (ideally all the same brand) - Bearing spring guide (any brand) - Heavier BBs (0.28-0.30g) - Shims (any brand, might as well reshim the gears while you're inside, as factory shimming job is never perfect) Stock TM piston is fine, unless you notice considerable wear on it. If you need to replace it, the Deep Fire pistons have reviewed very well. Increasing your FPS can significantly decrease battery life, depending on your battery. What's your current battery?

Agreed I found with my AUG after it was heavily upgraded the AUG 9.6 1700mah "block" battery would die after 8 mags, I had to go to a 3800mah in a battery bag

something you might want to consider is messing with the trigger too
since it is a "DMR" type rifle, you might want to consider taking out the "full auto nubs" in the trigger unit and weakening the return spring so you have a much nicer and less "clicky" trigger pull a bit of hockey tape over the full auto contact switch or the safety single shot mod will also prevent you from accidentally spraying people down as well do NOT upgrade the aug if you even have the slightest doubt that you might full auto people in a heat of the moment unless you disable full auto Ive seen a few people get hosed in close encounters of the "oh, shit!" kind personally, I have had good results with a 590TN by KM, a PDI (I believe) non linear spring cranking ~375 and feeding it with either .28 or .30 it is far more consistant than the ~410 setup I had before, and there is less of a trigger 'lag' when popping off the single shots since it is easier to compress top it off with optics of your choice, Im a fan of the variable magnification 1.5x-6x because it makes me feel tacticool when I diddle with the knobs ingame |

Systema torque up gears and a Systema Magnum motor, this will handle any spring you throw at it and give you good battery life.

I have the gears, but I havent used the motor myself it sounds pretty interesting |

what am i looking at in terms of price for all of this... and is there anything else i can do to the gun to increase the consitancy of shots? i have been looking into the phantom kit (i like the looks)... and as well i do not have a foregrip so the addition of the RIS makes it some what appealing... why wont the upgrade of inner barrel length help accuracy? |

Just for information's sake, my AUG, which has an HBAR barrel, also has these upgrades: metal bushings, M120 spring, bearing spring guide. I have the stock barrel and I use a 1500 mAh 8.4v battery and it works like a charm. Shoots at 400 FPS.

No, what I listed was pretty much it in regards to consistancy. My mental math puts the price as just short of $200, though don't quote me on that. I was also probably a little generous with the shopping list, what with it not being my money involved and all. There are always lower-than-average-prices and corners to cut, if one be willing.

By the way, if you choose to get the phantom kit, don't expect to put any heavy attachments onto the rails as they bend under something as light as a mosquito-molds mini-launcher. Just FYI.
