New motor pinion gear.....
I was wondering if this pinion gear http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=21700 would fit on a classic army, high proformance, high torque motor. 2 teeth are missing and I need to find a replacement.

It wont. CA pinion gears are D shaped and systema is a complete circle, and from the looks of that pic, that black dot at the bottom is a screw and mostly all systema pinion gears have to be hammered on the shaft then screwed into place.
Sorry mate. |

Ok, I cannot find a CA pinion gear anywhere, systema and TM no prob, but I cant find a CA D shaped one on any of my sites I check. Anyone know where I can get one, I dont want to buy another motor for $40+ when I can just get a $10 gear.

Systema is is the D-shaped shaft and Classic Army is the round shaft. You can use Prometheus on your CA motor. I've installed them before. You can get a pinion puller at a hobby shop that carries R/C stuff for under $20. Then, hammer the new gear on while putting something sold through the rear bell end and applying counter-pressure to the shaft. Otherwise you'll break the rear bell. Replacement gears cost about $6 each or so, from Asia

The last 10 or so Systema motors I've used (including the PTW motors) were all D-shaped, hence their use of the small set screw. I have 3 right now, and all are D-shaped. I have not seen a Classic Army motor D-shaped, but the last CA I had I sold last year, so.....

Every Systema motor pictured at Redwolf had the D-shaped shaft, and my 3 have the D-shaped shaft as well. Go to Redwolf and look at the pics.
PTW motor as well It appears they ALL have D-shaped shafts!!!

I contacted the airsoftparts.ca guy about his TM ones, and they are round and uncompatable as well. I dont know how you can tell a D shape from any of those pics you posted. Last edited by Buds and Suds; November 27th, 2007 at 03:41.. |

If it has a set screw, it's D-shaped. The pics above clearly show them.

I have a brand new Classic Army D-shaped pinion gear. PM'd you.
And old Systema motors had D-shaped shafts, but newer ones are round (not sure about the Magnums, however). I've been looking for a replacement for mine, which is how I ended up with the CA one. Both the CA and the Systema one have a screw.

Being careful with a dremel will turn your round shaft into a D shaft, then you're set...
