Question for the admins

I know there are a lot of the same posts from every noob out there, but there is possibly an idea I came up with (don't know if its been discussed before) that could save the time, and patience, of many of you Chairsofters.
Lets face it, a lot of people on this site like to scream at every noob that comes on the site, and its rather disgusting to see, spread all over the forums.

Why hasn't someone set up an automatic PM that sends right after someone logs in the first few times? Ive worked with PHP nuke, and so do a lot of people in my family (we all work with computers) and I know it can be done. and it'd probably only take a few minutes to setup and type out the focus of the message.

good call, it'd also be nice to set up the only can see the FAQ section for like a week or two followed by can only read the rest of the site, no posting, for another month and then they get the ability to post... if that could be set up then that would help with both the noobs and the spammers.

I've thought about that too... I'm sure most have.

Instead of just age verifying... maybe we should do intel verifying. Do up a quick 20 questions or something, make it so you can't take the test for a week, or (if possible) until they read all the FAQs...

1. Where can you find guns for sale? (multiple choice/answer)
2. What is the best gun? (trick question)

I can't think of any more... maybe after I sleep some.

At a time, on some of those threads, i have put my idea about the plague but nothing. Now i just get in *bastard* mod (partially) on and post in.

Like i said, i love those threads, this is the only good action i have in my day.

Novice players are not the problem and every hobby has a newbie issue. What sucks is that ASC is a haven for flaming chairsofters who don't play and like to wave their e-*****es around. Sure there's some good information in the forum but sorting out the bs from the actual useful tidbits is a difficult task. What makes it worse is a newb that searches, bumps an old post is then yelled at for necroing.

Look at the quality of the threads here, even topics that have potential end up turning into a pissing match or grow grossly off topic. There is a lot of false information on ASC and unfortunately many who flame takes it as the gospel truth.

Thank god not all airsoft forums are like this!

... its funny cuz its true. but acu has a great idea. the auto email should have the link to the faq along with a few links to regular noob questions (threads) as gunk mentioned. it may not work, but atleast wed be doing our part at saveing the dodo birds from extinction.

This has been discussed previously as well. Right now, the issue is that the administration is absent.

I agree completely. We should be HELPING OUT new players, not kicking them in the teeth for not having researched every finite detail about this sport before asking questions.

When we see their posts we need to turn zombie mode on and just answer the question. Anyone who works with the public or has had an instructor role in the past will know damn well that you repeat yourself again and again, but to different people. Get used to it, its part of everything.

If we show more respect for people (yes, chairsofting asshats, n00bs are PEOPLE) this sport will grow. Growth of this sport is a good thing, perhaps some of you should take it beyond your basements and living rooms.

I'm okay with helping a new one who don't ask for thing discussed a million time (or more). But question about a cheap crapsoft to play backyard skirmish is just...No. (With time it always end bad) Question about how to get a cheap clear gun and make it past custom because again discussed a million time and probably will just become a *weapon* in hands of a kids (in so many case) and i'm not going to help them making mess at school (they can do it other way) !
