BBQ propane adapter to fit AI adapter
HEY GUISE!
I was just wondering where I can find the adapter which couples to your run of the mill opd valve (on normal bbq tanks) to a Type 1 coupling? I want to use my bulk cylinder to fill up mags. Something like this. Secondly is this advisable? Thanks

it'd be very hard to flip upside down to fill the mags.

I actually was kinda thinking about doing the same. I'm sure If you bought the parts you could probably make your own. The only issue I can think of would be pressure difference. I'm looking into what the pressurization differences are. Otherwise I'm probably gonna put a Regulator in the line to set the pressure in my mags.
I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to thread in a brass fitting to change it to the proper thread. You would also have to build a shutoff valve since there is no push-open valve in the hose. If you are really skilled (or just plain insane) you could probably cut the top off an old coleman tank and weld something (really dangerous).

Preeeeety sure the bulk tank are designed to feed gas, not liquid. Same reason why you have to flip your small tanks upside down.
I say don't bother, besides a small tank last like, effin' forever anyway. |

Won't work.
If you read the label on the top of your tank, is says that all tanks must have a shut-off valve in case some LIQUID propane would try to go into you BBQ to comply with some regulation... If you have a 10years old tank... then maybe it could work... but corrosion would make me think about it twice before filling it... |

Was just gonna say the same thing. Recent tanks all have protection to prevent liquid propane from flowing.

Bingo. Am surprised it took one new guy to figure that one out. Reason we flip the propane bottles upside down is to fill the mag with liquid propane. Using that type of attachment and a BBQ propane tank will only fill your mag with gas, not liquid.

Yeah, I'm pretty much newb to GBB, just picked one up recently, so I'm not too familiar with the internals/operation.

... Simple solution!
Mount the huge tank upside-down on the wall! ... Lol, Why would you want to lug something that large around to games anyway? Just stick with the portables |

Be a great thing for a game host to have set up in the staging area though.

Totally agreed, but it would require a modified regulator that would allow liquid propane to flow.
