scar large battery mod
am i retarded? i cant find any info on the scar. im looking for the mod thread for the rear stock. i cant remember what it was about, but im trying to mod a large battery in there. can this be done, or do you need to buy the replacment rear stock i keep hearing rumors about. does anyone have a link or info on this as well?

Classic Army has an enlarged stock that fits a 10.8v.

ya i found that eventually, but it still says mini type, i was hopeing for a large type, much like the upgraded for grip on a g36.
i have modded the rear stock with a bunch of dremelling to fit the large 8.4 3600mah battery. they stock must be fully extended and a new screw needed to secure the rear stock rail as the stock is out farther than it can. it look astheticaly fine, fits a ginormeous battery. but i would like to get a replacment stock if it egsists to house the batt rather than the mod. im drugged up on meds, so if that didnt make sense wash rinse repeat. |

What flavor SCAR do you have anyway?
If you seach on UN Co you can find this & the battery looks non-mini. It's the only one I've heard of. Last edited by Danke; May 10th, 2008 at 12:17.. Reason: I can't belive that little UNCo pic was too big,,,,,,, |

i did a bt more research, the ca stock still only uses mini batteries, the lack of mah, they try to make up with a rediculously high voltage. 10.8v? theres no reason (except lipo) to go any higher than 9.6v. anywho thats my feelings, so i decided as i stated earlier to try and mod the stock to fit a large type battery, and if that crashed and burned then i would buy the newer stock.
before i get started, and some of you get excited, doing this renders the collapsables stock inoperable, and the battery is visable (pic 3) im working on a shroud to cover the exposed part. and most importantly you will need a #10-32 1 1/4" pan head screw. step one, cut down right behind the #3 on the stock. now cut horizontally from the front back to your verticle cut directl above the metal channel lock. dont worry there is still enough plastic to hold the channel lock securley in place after the cut. step 2, remove the wire extender and fuse entirley. also, youll need to remove the cheek weld to cut a chanel in the top of the stock housing (the only part that i wazs reluctant to do as this is permanent and non replacable), reattatch cheek weld, step 3, slid battery in, fish connector through connect to gun, adjust and fit wireing so you can close the folding part of the stock. i found it easiest to fees most of the excess wire into the battery housing and then align the connector into the mechbox housing. dont close it just yet you need to secure the channel lock with the new screw. step 4, next slide stock in which fits just right providing youve cut the right parts off. replace and tighten the new screw, close and voila. large battery in your scar. its not pretty, but its ore about funcionality. if anyone has helpful ideas or sees a better way to do this please post. also i will try and finish the battery shroud to hide and post pics.

by removing that chunk of plastic, how badly does that affect the buttstocks integrity? Seems like it could break very easily at that weak point!

not at all, theres that metal slide lock in there. i suppose you could break the plastic around it by dropping it or over time by useing the stock sling loopm but thats what the reciever sling loops are for
edit, the cheek weld is still adjustable, i just had it tightened too much initially lol.
