Gun Doc in the Kitchener-Waterloo area?

just purchased an ak-47 and experienced gearbox failure about 20 rounds in. if there's anybody can help me out, or knows somebody who can, please help.

well, failure meaning there is no movement whatsoever. i replaced the fuse and hoped that was it, but it still doesn't work. my first gun so i'm kinda lost as to possible causes.

You're sure your battery is properly charged and working? That gets a lot of people the first time around.

i hope it's fully charged... it WAS firing for a few rounds. how long should the initial charge have been?

yeah, check the battery first, once you KNOW for sure that it is charged, replace it in the gun and try, if still no movement OR sound then check the connections/fuse etc. do you have an extra battery to test with it?

depends on the charger, check out the battery faq for the charging table, i think its in there, itll tell you how much time your charger will take based on the number of MAH, if its one of those cheap wall chargers that came with it, then it may be a 250MAH-300Mah charger which will take a long time

was the initial rof very low? this would also indicate a dead battery, once it starts to die, you hear a kind of half-turn on the motor an nothing on pulling the trigger, and once its dead, no sound at all

it definitely is the cheap wall-charger kind. my manual says 12 hours initial charge. so that's how long i charged it for.

i tried to multimeter it but i have an old analog one and it's hard to understand. i'm pretty sure it's charged.

i would try another battery on it before trying to diagnose a mechbox issue, can you get one from a friend etc?

the initial ROF was decent. no ptw by any means haha, but faster than expected.

i charged the battery for about 10 minutes out of the box because i was too anxious to wait for a full charge (i know. bad idea. but everyone reccomends replacing the battery anyway so i didn't think it was a big deal). it fired great for about 20 rounds, switching between semi and full auto bursts. then it stopped working, one shot it worked fine and shot fast, next trigger pull there was no life at all. so i put it away and charged the battery for a full 12 hours as reccomended by the manual (or at least what i think it reccomended. it was pretty thick with engrish).

oh and no, i don't have any friends who are involved in airsoft. if anybody in the KW area wants to help me out, i'd be real greatful
