Unhappy How do you put a front sight back on?

^
I just got my CA M15a4 yesterday and while *trying* to adjust my front sight it just came off and it refuses to go back in. When put back in the front sight "hole" where it belongs, it just slides up and down as if the threads have been striped. What can I do?
Thanks in advance.

I dont own one but are you sure you didn't drop some screw or pin or anything like that? My MP5 front sight comes off but to make it hold there's a little pin that wasnt even secured, it would fall off alot.

Okay, be a bit more specific, bud. Did you remove the sight post? ( the little needle thing you use to aim) or the whole sight assembly (that connects to the barrel)

The sight post simply screws in, there is a little springloaded stopper that makes sure its secured in the sight and wont let it move whenever you rotate it.

And the sight assembly, there should be only two pins along the bottom, and grooves in the barrel that help it fit in. if you dont have those two pins... Try and experiment with some pins from a hardware store and clip them off. I had to do that for one of my pistol mags... Works fine.

That's the hard part, it doesn't screw in, it simply slides in and out like the threads are striped.
*Sigh* If all else fails I guess i'll call where I bought it from and see if they can mail me a new sight assembly
