TM MP5K Multiple Problems

Okay to start it off I believe my gear box is seizing up

List of Problems

Gearbox Seizing up?
- Once motor is in I hear a "Veeer" sound of it turning sometimes it shoots sometimes it just makes the Veer noise

Red Wire motor connector snapped off
- Then the motor connector on the wire snapped off when I was taking out the motor to inspect the gearbox

Reconnect Red wire with another motor connector
- I had a spare red wire motor connector lying around so I cut the spare and the original and connect the silver wiring inside wrapping around each other and then sealed it with black electrical tape, the motor now moves again, but nothing is moving in the gearbox and the wire feels abnormally hot, after two trigger pulls I decided no more and put it down

Any help?

I am guessing I should not have reconnected the wires and should have just found a completely new red wire

Your motor "Veer" cause either your motorplate is to low
Or your pinion gear is stripped

If u have another motor connector its fine, it'll work
Its probably getting hot cause now your motor is to high

There should be an allen screw or some key at the bottom of your grip to adjust the motor height

Cool going to go try that out, with the motor height

And will report on if its stripped or not

Okay so yeah its the motor height, the gears are fine still moving as long as I adjust the right height, sometimes it still shoots and makes a veer noise too

I got the wire reattached and just have to shorten it but after reatteching the wires

I noticed it seems to get hot faster around the battery connector wires is that normal?

U have to adjust it so that it doesnt make the Veer noise

The connectors shouldnt get hot at all, if they do that means you either have a short somewhere, or your motor is under to big of a load.

Well the only way I can adjust the height for hte MP5k is how deep I screw it in, theres no Allen key in my grip sadly

Also could a short happen at where I re-connected the wires
Cause the wires I just cut them took off the covering on both sides and tied the silver wiring inside in a twirl to connect the two cut wires and then use electrical tape to cover over it

Isn't MP5K Version 3? The adjustement screw should be in the motor cage.

Thats what I was wondering but I believe I see it now, thanks

I was super confused cause I have a Ver.2 Crapbox which is different from the MP5k PDW Gearbox, the wiring does not have the battery connector at the back

Okay I think I definitely need a new wire as the battery connector area and the motor are abormally hotter than before the break in wires

Anyone know where I can get Version 3 Gearbox wires?

The red one that connects to the motor is the one I broke

You can use any regular wire from a hardware store and just splice new (or even the old) connectors back on. Just be sure to get an appropriate gage. I'm not sure if V3 is picky but I replaced a wire with thicker 18 AWG wire in my V2 gearbox.

Yeah I believe its picky seeing how its acting very strangely, heated wires and the gearbox seizing

ehobby does not have what I need, already checked

Airsoft parts may though

My Gearbox is FRONT WIRED that should give out more clues to figuring things out

But the weird thing is it is front wired with two red wires

and the black wire is on its own which is also broken too

Similar to this one as well is what is in my gearbox

hello!

it's the IN and OUT of the trigger switch, its + so its red.

I'm not sure because I own the pdw version, but the original structure should be
AK battery red cable (+) goes into front grip - into fuse - to switch - then out the switch and to the motor.

the black cable (-) goes through the front grip to the motor.(not connected to switch, not connected to fuse)

I remember there are connector pins at the back of the body that you have to disconnect before pulling the mechbox out, I removed them and the fuse when I did my upgrades.
what I mean is those connectors complicate everything, but I think they were originally used to make assembly easier.

YEAH exactly Jimski that is my pain, cause if I can just get the normal wires it would be great but I do not know why TM decided to put the connectors at the back.

Anyway where did you get your wiring to fix the PDW cause I can probably do that and everything will work again

Splicing wires together was definitely a no-no since the abnormal heat I stopped right away, and looks like I have to fix all the wiring anyway since I am the 3rd owner or 4th (who knows for sure) and there are nicks that expose the wiring in the battery assembly as well

I answered him PM about the wires, s simple easy to find spade connector is all that's required. I find it overkill to replace the wiring harness just because a motor connector broke off (common). Is kinda like replacing your AEG because a BB got stuck in the hop up from lack of lube.
