TM G36 help
Hello!
Basically, I have a stock Tokyo Marui H&K G36C. I'd like to modify it esthetically first, then internally second. The project has an estimated timeframe of about 6 months, nothing's really set in stone, and its my first modifying project. Here's a summarized mashed up list of some items I was thinking of adding to my airsoft AEG, let me know if the quality on any of them is sub-standard, or if you'd recommend something else; Classic Army G36C RAS frontend kit only [no barrels etc] Dboys 470rd Hicap Mag x2 Dboys 2000rd Drum Mag AixiZ Green laser RIS Spiderfire X666 Combat Torch UltraFire Flashlight mount RAMB ACOG Aimpoint Sight / G&P UFC 552 Type Holosight KAC Forward Handgrip / King Arms Vertical RIS Foregrip G&P GP729 Stubby silencer [does this fit a G36C?] Madbull Gemtech HALO silencer [does this fit a G36C?] Attack Pack 8.4v 1500mah battery 8.4v 4500mah battery I'm thinking I should probably throw in the G&P tactical folding stock that allows for the 9.6v battery, but I'm also horrible with wiring and so forth, and would prefer to get it done by someone that knows what they're doing on a much more competent level than myself. I want this to be my short-stock CQB weapon, hence the stubby silencer, and the 552-type sight. Any suggestions on how to make my stock TM G36C better and cooler would be whole heartedly and graciously welcomed. Naturally, suggestions on where to start with internals would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you kindly. |

This here is based largely on personal opinions:
Classic Army G36C RAS frontend kit only [no barrels etc] -Fine. Keep in mind the colour of the CA G36 is different than the TM one, so you'll end up with a gun that has slightly different shades. Dboys 470rd Hicap Mag x2 -Lose the highcap. Hicaps are gay, and generally not favoured in CQB. Dboys 2000rd Drum Mag -Same as above. King arms makes very nice G36 magazines (50r). AixiZ Green laser RIS -Don't mount a laser on an airsoft gun. You won't be allowed to use it. Attack Pack 8.4v 1500mah battery -Never heard of the brand. Go with something good like an Intellect or Elete Battery. 8.4v 4500mah battery -Large battery won't fit in a G36 unless you mount it externally or get the large battery forgrip, which looks like ass IMO. As for MB mods, I'd look at metal bushings, metal spring guide, an MS100SP spring, and tightbore. Maybe a polycarb piston and tappet plate if you're going to be running a 9.6.

Any alternatives to the Classic Army G36C RAS handguard kit? It looks super gnarly with the venting holes and all, but its a shade off the black that my Tokyo Marui G36C actually is as you mentioned, and I'd like it to not look like a patchwork quilt.
I've looked into the B&T G36C handguard, but don't even know where to begin to order it. Suggestions? The G&G RAS hanguard comes to mind, but no longer seems to be available. |

This may be something worth investing into: http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=19761
Although you'd probably want something along the lines of this: http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=12162 It's large enough to sport a 9.6, but I wouldn't reccomend that on a stock TM. Last edited by Muffin; September 19th, 2008 at 21:07.. |

Thats the handguard RIS configuration I was thinking of! $200 doesn't seem bad, will it encounter issues trying to be brought into Canada re: customs and airsoft laws, etc? From the FAQs, it seems most accessories are fine, and its coming from Redwolf...right? Now, how exactly does the supplied (outer?) barrel come into effect with the G&G RIS? Do I remove the current stock barrel and replace it with the one supplied, as well as replacing the stock TM handguard with the awesome looking vent-heavy full metal G&G system? Any help on how to install it would certainly prompt me to get this handguard before any other external upgrades on my G36C. If it comes with instructions, I can read them too, but I don't know how technical the instructions will be. I also want to take the handguard off for a more M4 S-System style look, as well as mounting optic sights to my specifications that way. I guess I should have said that I was looking to improve and replace the stock handguard RIS of my G36C with something esthetically more beefy-looking and durable, Amos; apologies, and thanks for the correction. Thank you kindly again for your words of wisdom, which I am taking to heart and learning from continually. Last edited by Ghostpanda; September 20th, 2008 at 07:49.. |

I have roughly 6 years experience paintballing at a pro-am circuit level in New Zealand, and have collected specifically (and only) Tokyo Marui guns since my early teens - I'll be 30 this November!
I also have a heavy interest in real world firearms, and am constantly learning things about new-school technologies, from things as simple as ACOG sights, the ARMS release system and RIS rails to complete overhauls - the M-14 EBR conversion process is something I'd like definitely like to look into, and I'm curious about how a PSG-1 airsoft rifle groups at real-world long distance target ranges. In fact something like a nicely modded SAM-R with an M4 sniper RAS configuration would be my preference of choice for sniping capabilities, with the added bonus of having lots of room for add-ons. I do appreciate all of the help and comments received on this topic, and its given me a lot to think over before I mod my G36C. Its a project I definitely don't mind spending the money on, and its not just to look like a "poser" on the field, I'm pretty serious when I play (but only in the field, I'm a super chill New Zealander when I'm not in a competitive or team situation), and I appreciate realism. |

The "new" barrel that comes with the RIS kit is NEEDED.
In short, it is just a barrel extension that you screw to your stock barrel. You need that otherwise the barrel end will not clear the front of the RIS and you won't be able to attach anything to the tip of it. |

The Classic Army RAS frontend does not come with an extra barrel or anything extra, just the locking pin and some extra screws as you can see in the pic below - does this mean the stock TM barrel will extend the correct length, or will I have to get a barrel extension as well?
The fact that the Classic Army RAS front end is a shade off the black color thats stock for the TM G36C doesn't bother me as much anymore. I've seen 6ft4's carry-handleless G36's and I'm very inspired. $200 may seem a bit much for my first external upgrade, but most certainly something to aim for in the future. So my next question is... better battery or larger magazine next? I have the supplied 8.6v 600mah battery that came with my gun, and the 50rd lo-cap magazine. I would like some mid-caps for sure and was advised against getting a 470rd hi-cap; I can defintiely see some advantages to having a larger magazine. Battery life is definitely going to be an issue in the field, not so much when I'm doing target practice at home. I'm playing during the day, so any lighting options would be purely esthetic. I guess some optics would be the next step, and I'm heavily leaning towards a 552-type replica. Thanks again for all your help, I appreciate all the information |
