Right, moderately used ICS trigger contact
Left, problematic ICS trigger contact

Think I can fix this? :P

Came out of my ICS shooting 395fps at 26rps with dual parallel 9.6V batteries after firing around 1500rds in about 3 minutes.

Does ducttape conduct electricity? Cause if so it could actually work.

I hear that you can use the eraser on a pencil to rub carbonization off of copper electrical contacts....

Want to risk sacrificing another and run the same test with a mosfet? Just for photo/interest sake?

Well apparently ICS contacts are tin, not copper, so that may be my problem. The one on the right in the picture was my only spare so I think I'll just wait. As for a MOSFET I'm pretty sure the limiting factor for amperage in my mechbox is the wiring, maxes out at around 18A I believe (which is quite a bit lower than my batteries can supply and the SystemA Turbo motor can draw.) Need to get some 14AWG in there to up it to 22A max.

I heard a few weeks ago at work that duct tape is actually conductive....... mildly. Better to go to Walmart and buy aluminum tape.

And for carbon, I use emery boards (fingernail files) to resurface electical contacts.

Hit me up for some milspec #16AWG Teflon wire, it'll handle 22A and is about the size of the #18AWG you use (it has more strands in a tighter wrap, therefore much smaller size but high current levels. Just what's needed for aerospace useage). You have your choice of white or orange.

lol i dont think anything is wrong with your setup. There is however, something wrong with firing 1500 rounds in 3 minutes

Just drop a MOSFET in there.

Your wires can take the 20A load, but the poor contact made between the slider and the two tabs can't.

That is why you melt that part.

When a rope breaks, you don't change the metal rings at the ends to make it more durable.

There is nothing wrong with shooting 1500 bbs in 3 minutes.
I do it all the time.

11.1v LiPo on a TM stock V3 (AUG).

Replace the whole switch assembly. The ICS contacts are copper, I know, I've had to file them more times than I can count, but they gave a nickel plating on them. They offer poor contact pressure, and that is the problem.

Had to be more than 1500 rnds or less than 3 minutes LUTNIT, your gun shoots what? 30rnds/sec? That's 1800 rounds in a MINUTE. And since you just held down the trigger till the mags were all empty. . .

Oh shit! You really weren't joking when you said that you can go through parts like a madman... nice. Seriously though, Mosfet... If I remember correctly, it'll reduce the arcing on the contacts which will help improve the contacts' lifespan; at least that's what I remember reading while looking for one.

26 rps, the 1500rds came from how many mags I guessed I went through.

26rnds would have gotten that 1500 rounds out in a minute, so calcing time for how long it took you to swap them out... don't know how fast/slow you were doing that though.
