Wanna accessoriese my CA36

I've been taking in heart many of the suggestions on adding to my newly acquired Classic Army CA36. I'm eying a sniper folding stock to open the option of sticking the battery in the stock. I'm also thinking of getting a 5 pack of STAR mags 140rds over getting a couple of hi-caps.

The 1 thing I'm thinking of adding thats concerning me is either to get a handguard with buildin rails but I mostly find ones that goes on the 36Cs which obviously won't fit. Will G36K sets work? Or will I have to stick this expensive RIS system on?

You can install any front set if you want. All will fit, only the look will be odd.

You don't have to get a FMU rail. Guarder and some others make front ends with integrated rails. Only the rails are metal, the handguard is plastic/ABS.

You can also use a M4 stock adapter and a Crane stock for the battery storage. Personally, I don't like the look of the G&P battery stock, so I run with minis or LiPo.

Ah! I looked at a few rails but for some reason, I couldn't figure out how they would mount since I didn't see any screw holes like I did with a few other handguards. But for some reason being a little inebriated and playing a couple hours of Guitar Hero 3 seem, it seems to compute in my head now! @_@

I was also thinking of buying up a flat rail in place of the carrying handle with the buildin 1.5x scope and stick a red dot on it. Use the scope on open fields and the red dot for close quarters was my thinking.

As for the stock, I'm still debating whether to get the stock adapter and stick an M4 adjustable or use the G&P 1. Using the adapter would open up a lot more options for future upgrades. I'm going to keep thinking about it.

I hear some people have stuck a PEQ to use a larger battery but I've heard arguments that it'll make the gun front heavy and sticking the battery in the stock would balance it out better. Just how heavy is a large battery anywho? Enough to make a difference? I'll be sticking on a front grip anyways.

Start with a red dot. Scope isn't as functional as many beginners think.

Keep playing with it to figure it out.

About 4 times the weight of a 8.4v mini pack. Or about the same as a stock mechbox. Plenty enought to make you think about it.

OK that being the case, I'll get a new stock (still haven't figured out which I'll be doing) and stick in a large battery. Guess I'll have to learn the internals now, wouldn't doing this mean I'll have to open her up to run the power cable to the stock? God I hope I don't screw this up, hopefully it won't be any harder then tucking away the wires in my computer case.

Rewiring to the stock isn't that big a deal. I could do it pretty quickly, and I'm not that good with a soldering iron.

um...where do I mount the rails?

I don't know if I'm blind or dumb or both...but the pictures I saw of those Guarder rails from Airsoftparts.ca, theres no holes to on the sides of the hand guard for me to screw in the screws for rails of any sort.

There is 2 types of AS hanguards.

One with the inserts for the rails (each side and bottom) and no notch at the front to mount the bipod.

The other is the one you have.

If you want to mount rails to that, you would have to make some custom mounts, or buy a new front end.

Now, I take it when you say "front end" you mean I'd pretty much have to replace the whole hand guard? I've done some looking around with AirsoftParts, EbayBanned, EHobbyAsia, and WGC and what I turn up are mostly stuff for C and K models for just about most accessories. I did find a pre-order on AirsoftParts for a CA G36 Large Hand Guard but from the picture, it looks like it would fit a G36C. Also did a fair bit of googling ("CA36 accessories" "CA36 Hand Guards" "Customizing CA36" to name a few tries) I get a lot of mixed results, mostly to other airsoft places selling that gun. I don't suppose theres like a book I can look up, a sort of "Dummies Guide to Customizing your AEGs" sort of thing. Or would making custom/modded rail mounts be easier then I'm thinking, no metal works required but a bit more complicated then simple crazy glue and twist ties?

That large handguard you got is going to be WAY too small.

your barrel will be sticking out over a foot

The G36 hand guard you linked is for a G36C, it won't fit a full length G36.

Unlike the K and C, the full length doesn't include the holes for rails. You'll either need to be creative, get a new hand guard or stop trying to accessorize a perfectly fine gun.

... I've seen some people take a rail, short bolts and a nut and add rails to the gun just fine.. You just gotta have a steady hand, good eye and a drill press.

Essentially yes.

I know the gun is very nice as is and I'm not simply trying to "pimp" it out. After give it a feel, the weight is quite balanced but with out the battery. Of course, I could always get a new stock that'll house a large battery but I am also trying to open up the option of adding to it.

If replacement parts are easy to find, I won't worry about drilling holes and such. Then all I need is a drill...what can I say, I'm not a power tool person but it looks like a lot of fun ...till I poke someone's eyes out.

I did figure that handguard was going to be too small, the item did state G36 but from the picture, I did notice it was too short but I didn't know if it was a generic representation or an actual picture of the item.

I haven't bought ANYTHING yet, not even a battery + charger. Rather then paying for shipping 3x, I'd rather pool everything I want all together which is why I'm still in the planning stage picking at everyone's suggestions. I do thank everyone for being patient with this newbie...I am still learning after all.
