opinions? finished my silver marui 1911 with nova kit (PICS!!!!)
Hey guys, bit of a lurker here but, I finished my Marui 1911 with a Nova SFA kit, it looks great and the fit of the gun was awesome.
here's some pics: So after finishing the install I noticed that the low light dots on the i guess they would be novak-style sights are not painted. what colour and paint would you guys use to paint them? How do you guys feel about the two tone black controls on the silver gun? Suggestions on some grips? i was thinking these |

Not a fan of American Legend grips, and I've heard they are some of the lesser quality grips from Pachmayr, it is also not weighted like their Signature series rubber grip, so it'll alter the balance of the pistol a bit. For the sights I just bought a regular white paintmarker. Was thinking of getting some sort of flourecent(sp?) ones online but the cost plus shipping is stupid...
You planning to get some controls for it? |

yeah i was thinking of changing it out for silver controls, but im not entirely settled on how i feel about the black yet. what grips would you recommend that are either weighted or will easily be modified to fit the original weights?

I really like the 2 tone look! For the paint, you can get some hobby acrylic paint in all fluo you want. Tamiya and Testor have some nice fluos. Green, Yellow, Pink, Orange, Blue and more. For about 3$ and a thin brush, you will get a nice finish. |

You need some white grips on that. and I agree on the silver controls, It would look so much better that nit does right now.

Wayne, that looks AWESOME.
The 2-tone look actually doesn't look bad (to me), but I think I would change the hammer, beavertail and main spring housing to more modern silver controls. Would probably change the trigger to a 3-hole trigger as well, but that's pretty subjective. Polished silver slide catch, ambidextrous thumb safeties and beavertail on that silver frame would be the cat's ass. |

Looks sweet, I'm having quite the 1911 addiction lately. I agree with pretty much everything ILLusion said, I actually typed a few things he said before I realized he had already said them :P I'd say maybe Ergo XT grips if you want something simple but that's just my opinion. Anyways, congratulations on being the owner of that beauty

thanks for all the comments guys, i actually am i kinda diggin the two tone gun right now. we'll see how it goes in the future, i'm definitely considering a silver main spring housing though and the brown original grips just wont do, they are gonners for sure.
brian thanks for the suggestions and you may see me again soon for more parts you internet crack dealer lol. jesster, the kit was uber expensive i gotta say. you gotta pay to play though, in country it was $500+. also the weight is really nice, its heavy and about the same feel as a real steel 1911 although the real steel from what i remember feels a bit heavier when the mag is full. |

Once you ditch the stock grip panels, you'll lose all that weight.
Sadly, the majority of the Marui 1911's weight is in the grip panels. |
