Will an M120 screw my gearbox V2??
I bought,
1 x Modify Stainless Steel Shims 1 x Mad Bull M120 AEG Upgrade Spring 1 x Modify Enhanced Cylinder Head - V2 1 x Modify Enhanced Tappet - V2 And, in the gearbox I have, 1x polycarb piston 1x oiless bushings 1x polycarb piston head (ball bearing) 1X ball bearing spring guide -gun shooting around 380 -stock gearbox -stock gears QUESTION: does the mechbox look fine from these specs, or will I need a reinforced shell. Who makes/made your shell.
If it's a TM. I guarantee a breakage (wouldn't know when but I guarantee one), the material in the TM shells is not up to the task for any significant power upgrades. |

sort of--its a clone shell, not the black ones but the silver one

Get a sorbothane pad for your cylinder head. It'll GREATLY reduce the chances of your gearbox exploding.

Toss the clone shell....tolerances tend to be hit and miss...more miss than hit.
A KA reinforced shell is $35-ish for Airsoftparts.ca. They're nice and sturdy. Tys |

edit: No matter what mech box you're running I'd recommend a sorbothane pad.

I have heard reinforced shells are kind of bogus. They are reinforced more toward the back of the gearbox. V2's always break at the front. So I wouldn't bother paying extra for a reinforced. Maybe someone can confirm this as I am only going by what I have heard.
Just as a side note, I can vouch for an ICS gearbox or CA. Their V2's are a bit beefier than TM's |

It's true that most ''reinforced'' gearbox shells are actually mostly sturdier in the rear area but quality reinforced shells are made from slightly better materials and some have the front walls much thicker (is that a word?). That's why some gearbox shells require extra work to fit in metal bodies while stock TM and the like fit perfectly. Buy an extra shell (KA are not bad for the price but are nothing special) and just wait until the stock one breaks. It will happen no matter what brand it is. (Apart from Pro-win prolly)

Try to get a JG BLACK mechbox.
They are reinforced at the front, right under and above the cylinder head. It was running stock at 400 fps, so it should hold that no problems. |

hmm
maybe i should just leave my mechbox the way it is...il install everything else other than the m120... 380 isnt bad,,, but my kwa is shooting around 400-410 and is fine. il try and see if someone has a black jg box for sale..i doubt it thought...thanks for the help. forget the m120, il keep it in box if someone wants to buy it in one of the local games. 380 is fine for a stubby kiler. Watch out though... I worked on a JG that had a black GB and was sold as a ''new version'' to a teammate and it was just as cheap built as a TM... With lower QC and much out of specs dimensions.

so here is the final shit im gonna leave my gun with, il keep running it with the following parts till it dies...
but proper maitenance and preventative measures will exted its life hopefully. -Modify Stainless Steel Shims -Modify Enhanced Cylinder Head - V2 -Modify Enhanced Tappet - V2 -polycarb piston -oiless bushings -polycarb piston head (ball bearing) -ball bearing spring guide -stock gearbox -stock gears with all this itll have more seal due to double oring cylinder head, and have bettewr gear stability (shimming), and take off the stress from the spring (bb piston head, bb springguide. gun from what i know is currently running 370-380 so should be fint for a short barreled gun. |
