RELIABLE semi-auto AK mod..
So, I'm planning on switching platforms to AK, and start "project bothrops asper"... BUT, a problem arises...
I want to use it mainly in semi-auto... so I'll need INSTANT TRIGGER RESPONSE. Is there anyone that can help me build this thing (within the next 3 months) ? Preferably someone who specializes in V3s... |

Systema Magnum motor (or similar) + MOSFET + big battery = pretty near instant trigger response, regardless of your mechbox version. Make sure you have nice fat wires and deans connectors in there too. Directly soldering connections wherever you can (motor leads) would be even better.

Systema Magnum high torque, Systema Helical (Torque up) gears, and a large beefy battery + what Endymion suggested

I would remove the cut-off lever entirely and go with FET control. The cut-off lever in Ver 3 is one of the links in the chain that leads to lock-up in semi-auto.

You could buy one of my computer controlled MOSFETs from the retailer section. They are about as fullfeatured as you will get.
They can enforce semi-only operation (fires semi-only no matter where the selector is) with no modifying of the gearbox, so you don't need to worry about your version 3 mechbox binding/locking out when physically on semi like it's prone to do. (That can be a pain if you removed the selector or pinned it into semi, only to have it bind up.) |

Thanks guys.
DonP, your Trig-master was exactly what I had in mind. Eh, Lipos? No thanks |

whether you get instant trigger response with a lipo or a magnum and a big nimh it makes no difference. I really don't see where all the paranoia is from. And with a trigger master you can slow your motor speed down anyway. O and btw don't use a systema motor with the triggermaster. It creates weird issues. Those motors are a little sketchy. Basically they aren't compatible

lipo, trigger master and turbo motor. even at 400fps it turns over faster than the magnum.

I had an AUG with Lipo, FET, high gauge wires (12ga) and shooting 398. TM all stock except bushings, spring and the above.
You get instant trigger response. Ask anyone from the Montreal area that went to games this summer. Shot over 5000 BBs. Opened the mechbox last week to maintenance it. The grease of the grears was not even dirty, still white like I just placed it. I am doing the same with the G36 I get Monday. AND it is safe. You have to care about LiPo more than reg. batteries, but it does not require a degree in applied science to do it. Get a GOOD charge (50$ "smart" shit is not good), it has to BALANCE the pack. Get some decent, hobby grade LiPo (nameless on eBay is no-go, FireFox' are low-mid grade). Take care, make sure it does not get puched (when outside the gun or inserting). |
