Lee Enfield No 4
Got a question for you all. If I was to do a conversion, with the end product hopefully being a Lee Enfield, which would be the best gun to do it off of? Would a M14 work for it like the M14 does for the Garand? Or would it need some other guns mechanism?

you would need to start off with a bolt action rifle .. seeing as the Lee Enfield is a bolt action weapon.

Thing is with the one in the link, while it certainly looks the business, it's supposed to be a No1 mk 3, if you're looking for WW2 it would need to be a No.4 mk 1. A lot of the older No1's were used by the Home Guard (Dad's Army). If there are any other Brits out there who'll get that. 'DON'T PANIC!' if you don't get it though.
Maybe I'm a bit pickier though. I managed to find a No4 Mk1 stock with all the fittings on eBay a while back, they cost me about $150 if memory serves. There's a bit of whittling needed but the guts of the VSR-10 already fit reasonably well, I will need to make a mock up of the receiver and figure out a way of securing the VSR-10 magazine within the stock and do a bit of hogging where the hop up fits. I also need to make a barrel reducer into the end of the VSR-10 barrel so the front sight fits properly. It's not a lot to do, but it will be time consuming, hopefully I'll get through it this winter, depends on the honey-do list. |

Yes, I was somewhat hoping I could find a stock of my own, I found out on Sunday that the dad of a friend of mine has a WWII one for hunting, and he said quite a few people around here have them. So its an outside shot I might pick up a broken one or something.
Ebay is a good idea also, I will have to look there. |

Very interesting, thanks for posting that. I guess once I get age verified (Who knows when that will be, #18 comes right in the middle of the Christmas season, or maybe we just start early in my family :P), I will look around. I am on a fairly tight budget though, so that limits things, especially considering I might need to use my small pile of cash for something not-so-fun as an airsoft-gun...
Lotsa hope though, this is much cheaper it seems, that it would be to buy a M14 and convert it to a Garand (And I would much rather an Enfield anyways.) |

Darn. Two nice Lee Enfield Stocks for 50 USD on Ebay but "we can not mail outside of the USA as per E Bay rules - Please do not ask. "
Maybe there will be something on Ebay.ca. |

My initial plan was to use the Dboys 98k but I dropped that when I realised the problems involved. The 'Shoot'n'Scoot' scratch builds that I should hopefully get a better look at tomorrow (WW2 theme game at SnS's site) uses APS internals. |

Okay thanks, I guess since I am still new at this, I can get easily discouraged. Got to keep the chin up I guess.

The balls were aimed at the seller not you Like I say most of the people I've dealt with on ebay.com are good folks and very helpful, you just need to be patient and ask around.
I now have everything for the No.4 I can get, including the magazine which are the most difficult to source, I only need the internals. I'm currently aiming on using a gas gun, that way I don't have to cut a space for the magazines to slot in. But then it comes with all the problems of a gas gun & I'll have to use the magazine as a template to make fake mags to stick to the bottom of the gas mags so it's swings & round abouts. My one will (fingers crossed) be better aesthetically at the expense of practicality & possibly performance but it comes down to what you're wanting. |
