comfortable with your upgrades?

After putting in a few internal upgrades to your AEG, close the mechbox and fire. things sounds great, right? is that how its suppose to sound? Oh i got an increase of FPS cause i upgraded the ______ but is it suppose to be higher than this?

these are the questions i ask myself every time i upgrade, do you guys ever doubt yourself? how do you know if you did a good, successful, job?

Time between the gun being opened and the gun being broken. The longer the time, the better I know I "did a good, successful job".

I've never had a gun that I've selected the upgrades for and upgraded myself break

nothing broke yet, and hopefully not for a long time. i just thought there would be an indication like: if ran 2000 BB's through it without problems, you are good to go :P

Part failures could happen at any time, and not because of user servicing, so why waste 2000 bb's when you could be playing a game with those 2,000 bb's and have a back up weapon in case your's fails.

When I do a full service on my guns, I tend to run a mag or two through it on semi and full auto, and if it's fine (which it almost always is) then I consider the gun working.

I consider an upgrade successful if it sounds good (or even better than before), the hopup works and keeps the BB straight, FPS is where it should be, and range is on par with the FPS you should be getting, tested with a mag or two full or a full hicap. Usually > 100 rounds.

I usually run 200 or so BBs through them.
I use that time to tune motor height and break-in the hop-uo bucking if I replaced it. I notice that the first 100 BBs are VERY over hopped and then settle down.

Guns leave my bench with 200-400 rounds put through them after the upgrades...mag changes, handling, etc...if it works like that, good chance it'll do whatever the customer wants to do with it (within reason...but I don't take idiots on as customers).

I just put 1000 rounds through an Inokatsu M60 (about an hour ago)...just to fine tune and fiddle with it to make sure it was running well. That's the 2nd round of testing.

You plan out what you want from your upgrade:
- fps
- ROF
- accuracy
- reliability

Then you work your mojo and test (with a chrony and proper targets) to see if you got it. You test enough to ensure that it's going to keep working that way. If it's not doing things just right...you get back into it an do some more work.

The best reassurance that you're work's gone well...is when you bump into a customer at a game and without any prompting, they go off on how well their rifle still works. That's nice.
