For the Guarder Auto-Back kit, you do need to cut the mechbox shell to fit the L-arm up into the piston.
The piston head pushes the L-arm back, which pulls the bolt back. The bolt carrier spring pushes it all back forward (and the mainspring pushes the piston head back as normal). Makes a real clackety-clack racket. It will destroy a polycarbonate piston head (it indents a nice impression into the back of the piston head)...not sure if there's a better way to set it up. When I had one, it was on an all metal AK...there was a lot of impact marks from the metal bolt hitting the body/front end. I'm not sure how well a plastic body would hold up over time. But...man oh man...everyone who hears one turns to check it out! |
