600 Denier Nylon?

I was wondering how durable this kind of material is. I recently came across this plate carrier by OE Tech and saw that it was made of 600 Denier Nylon. At that price, I'm tempted to buy it but I'm wondering about the durability of this product. Is it just straight up going to shit out after a few games or should it last?

Thanks.

most "airsoft" stuff is 600D, real deal stuff is 1000D and up, do quote me on this but the higher the D the tighter or more in the weave.

Check out huang's stuff in his gear thread. I just got a tan Wasatch and it is 1000D. Very well built. Very good value. $97. shipped. Holds 12 mags, map pocket in bib front, and the hydration bladder carrier is included. And has pockets for front and rear plates too. He makes a very nice looking CIRAS vest also.

OE Tech is mostly rebrands of CONDOR and UTG stuff.

Generally CONDOR is "okay" while UTG is crap.

600D is okay for low wear stuff, like a hydration pouch, for example. But I'd stick to 1000D for actual vests and heavy wear items (holsters, mag pouches), unless you're a very "stand around, don't get dirty" kinda player.

Check out PANTAC's stuff, it's all 1000D and the quality is about on par with Blackhawk which is good for airsoft.

Well, alright then. I was originally looking at an Eagle MOLLE plate carrier but saw this for only 70$ and thought that if it was decent that I might as well get it instead. Oh well.

As to my knowledge in the material of combat gear, specially the Nylon products, there are 3 kind of material in the market.

Fisrt, Corudra, that is most known and the best fabric that is used to build high quality vests, pouches, etc. Eagle uses it through out their product line. And we do so too.

Second, nylon, just nylon. Most of those products without Cordura hanging tags or sewing tags are made of nomal nylon.

Third, polyester. All of cheap combat gears are made of poly, because poly is much cheaper.

Talking about the abrasion, Cordura is the best, 3 times better than nylon, which is almost 2 times better than Poly.

Talking about the price, saying Poly is 1, nylon will be 2.5 and Cordura will be 6.

Unfortunately, most manufacturers won't tell the truth about Poly, they call their product "nylon" to mislead the customers.

A simple way to tell whether it is nylon, just burn some yarn, if the smoke comes out black, it is not nylon but poly.

=====================

About the word "Denier"

To my knowledge, "denier" is unit of measurement of linear density of textile fiber mass- calculated as one gram per 9000 meters

1000 denier means that this yarn weights 1000 gram per 9000 meters.

600 denier means that this yarn weights 600 gram per 9000 meters.

So, in this way everybody knows that 1000D is rougher than the 600D.

There is also another key word in the specification of fabric, that is "T".

I am sorry about not sure of the real meaning of the T, but I can explain it.

Please look at the following picture:

T means the number of the horizonal and vertical yarns of the weaving.

So the bigger the number of T, the better the density is.

For example, all of our products are make of 35T*29T Cordura, the best 1000D Corudra we can find in the market. 2 years ago, we use 54T to make Phantom products. When we turn to Pantac, we improve our material without telling anyone.

==============================================

In a word, it is very complicated talking about the detail of fabric. But after reading my long and boring explanation in bad English, do you know a little more than you used to?

Drake is right. 600D is better for pouches, even better for certain kind of vest such as OTV. But heavy duty gear is better to made of 1000D material.

Thanks again for you patience of finish reading my bad English,
