What's a good online retailer of military gear

I'm starting up in airsoft and I don't want to walk into a battle with a long sleeve shirt and a pair of jeans from Old Navy. I checked out BDU.com and they have some really cheap BDUs there, so I might get a shirt and pair of pants from them. But I would prefer to do all my shopping from one retailer to save on shipping costs. Would any of you be able to point me in the right direction?

Head over to Dave's Surplus. You can try the gear on first hand there. Bring money!

First though do the tour of the locals and what they wear and what works. If you show in choc chip desert you may look great but you'll stick out like a sore thumb in the rainforest there.

Thanks for the heads up. In the rules for Op-For Airsoft Club I noticed that they require paintball approved goggles. Could someone tell me where I can get paintball grade goggles that don't cover the whole face? The only ones I've been able to find are full masks which I don't really care for.

Not so much where, as what model. Many JT lines have a removable mask portion. My personal favorite remains the JT Spectre.

I know this has probably been tossed around before but a short quick answer is really all I need, and it may help the topic starter as well to know this answer as he's in process of assembling his kit.

IF military-focused eyewear manufacturers (ESS, Wiley-X, Revision, etc.) have sealed, full eye coverage products that are good enough to withstand the dust, dirt, shrapnel-filled battlefield, why aren't they necessarily good enough for airsoft in lieu of "paintball-approved" ones that merely have had their face shields detached? Strikes me as weird since I would think the ballistic protection of the pro-grade eyewear is far superior to that of mere paintball approved eyewear.

I checked out Dave's Surplus. Man they are expensive. I was hoping to buy some actual military surplus gear so I don't have to pay outrageous prices.

Theres gorilla surplus over broadway in Vancouver. Lots and lots of gear at very good prices. I suppose you could also try camoflage down town on granville, although their selection isnt that great and their prices arnt either. I definitely recommend gorilla surplus.

Seals Action Gear is a good place with pretty reasonable prices. Not a surplus place in the sense I think you mean though.

I was in Gorilla earlier in the year and my impression wast it more of a costume store. The surplus stuff in there was worn out and while not as steep as new priced for the kool kids who what a bit of army in their closet.

I think someone from Gorilla posts on here so maybe you can get a name to drop for a discount though.

Another option is to cruise the classifieds here, lots of folks will sell complete rigs when they want to change camo.

There's Gorilla on Broadway, OR you can try Urban on King George (south end before White Rock)...atleast thats where they were, I heard something about them moving the store...

Anyway, Dave's is great but they don't deal too much surplus these days.

Yup, they're blowing out all there stuff. I spoke to one of the guys working there and they were considering moving to the Burnaby area.

We play at Panther (mostly) and since their insurance only covers paintball approved goggles (since it is primarily a paintball field) we have to conform to the rules. Op-for does play at non-paintball fields as well and in those cases we allow ballistic goggles.
