Kraken Upgrade List

Me and my friend bought krakens last year and have decided to upgrade them. For the internals, we have decided on the following:

-Deep fire polycarbonate piston
-Modify Enhanced Cylinder Head
-Marui Original Gearset (does anyone know if the stock gears are any good?)
-Modify Bearing Spring Guide (Not sure if I should get deep fire or Modify)
-Mad Bull M120 spring
-Metal Bushings (No idea what kind I should buy? http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...x&cPath=66_131
-Modify Stainless Steel Shims
-Deep fire Metal Nozzle
-Deep fire AK selector plate
-Pro win AK hop up-OR- King Arms AK hop up (which one is better?)
-Guarder clear hop up rubber
-Marui EG700 short Motor
-Mad Bull 6.03mm Tightbore Barrel
-G&P AEG Grease Set
-Sorbo Pad


If anyone can think of anything else that I should add to the list or to change a part that I am planning to buy, I would appreciate it. Also, does anyone know if it would be worth it to buy a reinforced mechbox shell or is the stock one fine?

All looks good, however I would probably go with a Modify 110 Spring (should shoot about 400-410 with that), those are fairly good springs.

For upgrading, when in doubt (as long as the company and it's parts are good) try and keep a homogeneous brand in your mechbox for most upgrade parts, because there are combinations can give you trouble.
So, I'd pick up/change:

1) Modify 6mm bushings (assuming it's a 6mm mechbox, I'm not too sure what the krakens are)
2) modify poly-carb instead of the deepfire one (unless you have experience suggesting the latter is superior)
3)Maybe also pick up a modify nozzle in place of the deepfire.

I just noticed your using stock ratio TM gears? While it may work, it's not the best idea. They may break, as well there will be a lot of unnecessary wear on your motor, and much more draw on your battery.

I'd either go with some torque up gears, or not upgrade it as hot. Maybe something like a Modify SP100 would be ok with stock gears.

Keep in mind that while upgrading an AEG is important, you also need to make sure you won't be doing any damage to the gun itself. As a general rule of thumb, the more rigid the spring, the more stress it puts on the AEG. Also, keep in mind that when you upgrade to a more rigid spring, you might also want to consider buying a stronger battery. I'm not sure what kind of battery you're using at the moment, you didn't list it in the post, but with a more rigid spring, it takes more energy to draw the piston back, and thus a bigger battery will perform better, as well as potentially increase your RoF.

Silly question but how much is this "upgrade" going to cost?

Would it have been more economical to purchase a higher end AEG to start with.

Let's make this way easier. Get a modify tune up or upgrade kit (with cylinder and head, piston and head, spring and guide, tappet, nozzle) some modular gears to start. No need for shimming. If you get modular speed gears, you'll need a special piston with the second tooth removed.
A marui eg1000 is better. A tightbore is a good idea, don't go smaller than 6.04(they jam easier)
Hop up units don't vary that much. Get whichever is available. Don't use the clear sleeve. Too weak.
A sorbo pad is a good idea.

Mainly- Avoid Deepfire! Aside from their titanium tooth piston, they will waste your money and time.

Make sure you get the right sized bushings.

If your current selector plate is working, leave it.

Good luck. But really, for what you're about to spend, you could almost buy a real gun.

hrmmm...one of my airsoft pals had a Kraken and upgraded it with some modify parts.......but they didn't just drop right into the gun....he had to modify his Modify stuff so to speak. So be aware of that before you begin.

Yeah, I was not really planning to go over 400fps (forgot to mention that). I was hoping to get to the 370fps range. I know that it would probably be a better idea to get a better AK to begin with, but I already have a TM G36c and I am not planning to upgrade the kraken all at once. It will be my first gun to upgrade so I just want to see how it goes.
