Arena FlakJak goggles and Slings!

Hi was on airsoftparts.ca picking up some shims, a G36 barrel extender and a few other goodies, and saw these

http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1120

Does anyone know anything about these goggles? they seem like a good unit, and a great deal. I found a link to the manufacturers site,

http://www.arenaindustries.com/flakjak.html

Any info would be awesome

Secondly, I'm in the market for a sling, I'm thinking 1 point would be cool, but i don't really know enough about slings to make an accurate decision. Are there any on Airsoftparts.ca that are good? I don't mind ordering form elsewhere, but i like to support Jugglez,

Tanks in advance,

-Ben

+1 for goggles.....comfortable, good fit and they dont fog up.

DONT WASH THEM WITH SOAP or they will fog up on you

I have two of those slings and they work fine. I replaced the adapters they came with ones similar to this.

http://ebaybanned.com/product_info.p...oducts_id=1303

The goggles are good quality, a bit wide due to the way the straps mount, but otherwise solid. The cheap price is the result of some sort of overstock. Rumor has it that they were manufactured in large quantities for a contract that fell through (or something like that). Just to put to rest any fears that those goggles may be defective in some way, because they aren't. I have a pair as well.

Awesome, thanks for the info guys, I'm going to order a pair now.

And wide frames is good for me, I wear glasses, Big, solid D&G Glasses, so as much space as possible is nice, if they don't fit i always have a pair of contacts too, but i would prefer to just keep my glasses.

Also, for the sling, Do you find the bungee feature useful? or is it just a gimmick.

Thanks

Personally I like the single-sided bungee because I find that with a double-sided bungee if you're not careful the potential is there to slingshot the butt of your weapon into your face (if your weapon caught on a branch, let's say). This is less likely with the single-sided variety. The bungee is there to pull the weapon in closer to you when you have it stowed, yet allows for it to be extended when you transition to a weapon ready position.

The main reason I went from a 3-point sling to a single point is because the stress of mounting to the weapon is at a single and relatively strong point, the point where the receiver and stock/buffer tube meet. On a 3-point (or 2-point), part of the mounting is at the front end. For airsoft weapons this can become problematic over time due to the amount of stress it places on the connection between the barrel assembly and the receiver. You definitely don't want to use this type of sling on a plastic body. Even metal bodies can fatigue over time since they typically use much lower quality metals in their construction. These are technically toys after all, they're not really meant to be abused (as much as we tend to anyway).

Hmm, it looks to me like a 1-point, 1-sided bungee sling is the way to go.
You say that you really shouldn't use these on plastic bodies? the gun in question is a G36, will that probably be okay?

Nice find on the goggles! I was out looking for a set today ironicly enough and didn't manage to find anything I liked. And yea, looking at normal retail value for those it's between $80-110 so picking them up for $35 (came to $48 after shipping) is pretty nice.

Sucks that they're Tan coloured, won't match too well with a CADPAT/OD setup but really, at such a nice price it's still hard to complain.

Your G36 should be fine for as long as the integrated sling mount on the body holds up. I used to have a G36 and if I recall correctly, the sling mount is plastic and molded into the body.

The sling clasp is on a swivel head so it shouldn't put too much stress on that point as it will spin freely as needed. Also, considering the weight of the G36 I think you'll be in good shape.

That sounds right on the money, there are 3 on the body actually, one up on the front end of the handgaurd, One near the base of the stock, and one on the back end of the stock.

My G36 actually has a 455MM AK length inner barrel, hidden under a silencer, i don't think that will be long enough to cause an issue though

I bought one to replace my aging JT Flex, I used them for the first time last saturday, overall they are awesome to use but if you have an Asian face, find something to cover your nose. as for fogging well it was not much of an issue considering that the day was quite humid aside from some minor fogging i can say that it went very well compared to my Fan equipped JT. The built in Fins really vent the fog away with the slightest breeze so fogging was not an issue, I'm sure an anti fog coating will help. Overall it's a good product to buy.

If the price is right but the color turns you off, it maybe helpful to know that you can always just pop the lenses out and blast the frames with a shot of spray paint to change the color. Thats what I would do ateast. I do own them but unfortunetly I never wear them as I find my bolles more comfy.

Yea, i might do that, althought that would wreck the cool logos,
and i mean, common, one of the most important aspects of airsoft is looking cool, am i right?
