Systema Silent Head Set or Modify Head Set + Sorbo Pad
I can't decide between the Systema Silent Head Set (piston head/cylinder head) or Modify Polycarbonate piston, cylinder head and sorbo pad.
I plan to outfit my mechbox with Modify piston, tappet plate, air seal nozzle and rotary bearing spring guide (all modify parts). I know the Systema Silent Head Set could reduce my FPS and I believe both the modify and systema head sets should increase my rate of fire since they are both ported piston heads. A bonus for the modify cylinder is that it is stainless steel and double o-ring. Also, when I purchase my Modify airseal nozzle it would fit perfectly onto the modify cylinder head. I plan to have my Classic Army M15A4 shooting at around 400FPS. I prefer semi-auto but don't mind full-auto occasionally. I am aiming for a consistent and reliable AEG. Thanks!

I have a full Silent kit in my SPR, and a Modify Poly Bearing Piston head + Sorbo in my VN. I love how they both sound, very crisp, muffled sound, no twack, no pop, nothing.
Yes the Silent kit will lower your FPS, I have a MS120 spring in my SPR, supposed to be 420+ FPS, Im at a comfortable 395. So whatever combo you want, go for it, I recomend the vented bearing head and sorbo tho, I have done it in 2 guns, one mine (VN) other my buddies M4, and huge difference in sound, and reliability with that sorbo for games to come.

Thanks Beach, I am not familiar with MASK and would like to keep my parts from the same manufacturer. But, I will take MASK into consideration.

Did you have to shave any piston teeth due to using the sorbo pad. Because I assume the piston will sit a little further out of the cylinder with the sorbo, and I am not sure how the sector gear would mesh with the piston. Did you notice and FPS drop with the sorbo? Cheers

Nope no piston mods needed for mine anyways, I know the new sorbo's are a big bigger, which require piston tooth removal, as for FPS, I dont think so, if there was, minimal. I dont have a chrony to really test it out.

I definitely recommend the MASK and the cylinder head with the Sorbo dampener on it, It gives the gun a very nice quiet sound. I have used them in everyone of the guns that I've worked on and have had no complaints they make the gun sound wonderful. The systema silent head setup doesnt actually silent the gearbox much.
I've run easily a 420fps spring with a high ROF in my JG gearbox with the mask n sorbo combination. Its been almost 3 seasons now and no sign of wear or tear to the gearbox. I havent seen a drop in FPS on any of the 12 guns I've installed sorbo's onto |

wow just what i was looking for
I have just done my first upgrade on my Star M4 SIR-M and im really not happy with the sound of my gearbox v2. now want to get it sounding really good and more quite. this is my current setup Guarder high speed revolution Motor Guarder Steel Gears Element Piston Systema Area 1000 piston head Systema tight barrel Guarder hop-up rubber and H Hop everything else is the standard Star parts including the Cylinder Head I also had to file down the piston to fit my Star gearbox as they are a little different to the normal V2 as for the quick release spring. when i got the Area 1000 piston head i did not really know you could get ones that make a nicer quiet sound. I was just looking at the sorbo pad and Systema Silent Head Set but the Mask setup looks nice. not sure what to go for now. do you think just adding a sorbo pad and new Cylinder Head will do? am I going to need to file off any teeth of my piston to make this sort of setup work? any help would be great Last edited by miowpro; June 29th, 2009 at 18:34.. |

Nova316 i hear your the guy to talk to about this sort of stuff. i guy from airsortparts recommended i talk to you about the Mask set.
ReSpEcT: your feedback would be great too. I want to get a nicer sound out of my gearbox as i have the original Star cylinder head in with the Systema Area 1000 piston head as you can see form my post above. i have been looking at the following ideas. Option 1 just adding a Sorbo Pad or the Mask cylinder head with Sorbo pad Option 2 - Element Silent Piston / Cylinder Head Set Option 3 - Systema silent setup Option 4 - MASK Duo Aluminum for Ver 2 See link for images: http://www.airsoftresearchsyndicate.com/ I have heard that using the piston head with the cylinder head make it louder... i would like to keep my AEG between 300fps and 350fps and i have heard that using the silent heads and lower the fps. also any springs you could recommend would help any help you can give me would be great |
