Modify modular gears
http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1225
is it actually worth the $120(gears+key)? Or should I just settle for this instead http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1016 I'm quite confident about my shimming, and I've done it plenty, just wondering if anyone has any tips or advice on which gearset to get. Doesn't even have to be 1 of the 2 above. Please don't recommend prometheus =( don't rub salt in the leaking wallet wound

bump?
|

A bump after a half hour? On a Wednesday night? When the first post was at damn near midnight?
Anyway...I hear nothing but good things about those gearsets. I was gonna install them in my old Star SCAR but turns out the chassis hinders it from entering the Star mechbox. Its supposed to give you added stability, but you say you trust your shimming. But do you think its gonna be perfect and stay perfect? Its up to you really. |

Yeah, the only concern I have is how much of a deviation it will have from the "perfect" gap. And since I'm not equipped with an expensive micrometer, it becomes quite a problem. Well, whatever, I may as well save $65 and get the seperate gears. Hopefully my countless hours spent shimming 10+ gearsets/bushing combination will help lol. Thanks for the reply. Although I do not quite fully undrestand what you mean about "stay perfect"

Well what would you trust more? An engineered piece of aluminum(could be wrong on the material) thats is designed specifically for the purpose to provide stability and is non-malleable, or a couple washers that can, may or will move from the exact location you placed them, and has the human error equation added in.
Like I said, its up to you. But if it was me, Id go with the modular set. |

I'd buy the 99$ one. Have you seen the videos of it firing? I'd so buy it if I had the money..

It's not just $99. The guy emailed back saying the mini-key thing wasn't included, so I would need to pay another 20 for the key.

You do realize that 120$ with the key is a pretty good price landed?
They cost 85$ US + shipping if you buy out from country. |

Yeah I know I know, it's a fair price, but it's still a lot compared to other gear sets, and I know what your going to say, which is that this isn't like any other gearset lol. True enough, but even PTWs run on non-modular systems XD
ARGH!!! This is a tough choice lol. That $50 could pay for bushings for another gun or a replacement slide for my 5.1 =( |

... If you're paying $50 for a slide it's garbage anyways.
As the saying goes with airsoft "Buy cheap, buy twice" the Modify Smooth gearset is amazing... I wish they made full tune Kits with them in it.. would save me alot of hassle. |

$55 for another TM stock slide lol.
They do have full tuning kits for them don't they? I'll see if I can afford to pitch in the $50 for modular then =p high speed only it is |

Why not save 170$ and buy a metal one? You're going to have to buy another slide again when that stock slide breaks again. If you're going to get the 55$ one, you need to get bushings and shims. The 120$ saves you much more of the time, and you have the bushings and shims already there. But okay, your money, your choice. |
