All the Different Type of BDUs
I am now at the point where I need to buy a BDU, and I see all the different brands, colors, functions, etc...
I already know I would prefer a Molle system, probably from Pantac or a similar good quality/price ratio brand. I am just wondering what kind of Camo I should get, I will be playing in the Eastern region (in Quebec) probably in the forest (I guess). I am just wondering what is the "normal" camo to buy ? Thank you. |

well it's depend on which side are you on ? It's usually Desert and Woodland side. Multicam will consider desert and ACU will consider woodland, the rest of camo are simply express itself by its camo. Hope it help.

Flecktarn at your local surplus is one of the cheapest camo out there.

Simple answer is to wear whatever your buddies are wearing...so you end up on the same team.
Consider how the majority of your games are divided...digital vs. analog...green vs. tan...etc... It's handy to have one setup of each side. Some games get really one-sided and it's really good for the game to even out the sides. DPM is awesome for the average forests. Flecktarn is really good in the late summer/fall. I've only found multicam usefull for a limited time at the really, really early part of spring. I suppose that's highly dependant on our fields. When CADPAT seems too green...MARPAT is excellent. Some of the indoor CQB places have lots of chip-board/plywood type walls/buildings...multicam is really good in there. 3-colour works well too. It's hard to beat good old woodland...not fancy/flashy, but it just works. |

Camo Buy
Buy a pair of Cf surplus green pants, they are plentiful and cheap.. long lasting, and comfortable.
The buy a green camo shirt or Smock .. and a brown camo shirt or smock. Get Khaki or Coyote Brown gear that goes with both colours.. and you have a loadout for brown and a loadout for green and all you had to buy is an extra brown camo shirt.

But supposing teams are green and tan etc. Is it generally fine to wear say, DE or tan pants with a green top if you're on the green team? Is the top the most important team identifier? Is matching top and bottom essential? Or is this just a recipe for confusion and would result in being stripped down to skivvies for a game. |

One of my friend bought a black tactical Vest, will he need to wear a Black bdu also ? (if that's possible) or he can just take any camo color and use that ? Will it look weird ?

also make sure you have a Green hat for green team and a tan hat for tan team... you won't have any issue ...

As for BDU colours? Woodland, 3 colour desert, 6 colour desert, tiger stripe, Vietnam tiger strip, desert tiger stripe, urban, subdued urban, Multicam, black, navy, khaki, olive drab, gray, brown... and that's just the old-fashioned, American-style BDUs (4-pocket top, 6-pocket pants). In more modern cuts, most/all of the above, plus MARPAT, Desert MARPAT, Universal Camoflage (ACU), CADPAT Temperate, CADPAT Arid, generic digital woodland, desert and urban.... I'm not even getting into the "foreign" stuff...

You can't go wrong with green ... but.. make up your own mind as to what appeals to you and what you can afford.

Like Brian said, pick what YOU like..
The only reason you'd actually have to coordinate your kit to a specific pattern is if you played on a team with a set kit.

you need one set for the usual US teams (OD, woodland, digital or multicam) and you need one set for the usual rebels (anything not mentionned above like DCU, flecktarn or DPM)
keep in mind that desert tones are more easily seen in the forest ( DCU, ACU, beige and multicam ) and that's also why I never use black. for instance I use OD and woodland for when I play US, Tiger+DPM when I'm rebel.( I just bought tiger pants )
