"Spot Flare", the safe and reusable airsoft flare marker solution!
So I've put together this concept design and already have prototypes made. It works very well so far and as most of us know, it can be difficult to spot objects of interest in a thick wooded area. This really helps marking things and making them stand out. (ex: ammo boxes, operation objectives, ect...)
Instead of attempting to mark a nearby tree, put up a sign or any other setup, you just pull one of these out and toss it down. Quick and simple. Usage Video: YouTube - Spot Flare Usage Video Operation instructional video: YouTube - Spot Flare Instructional Video (Airsoft reusable flare grenade) Pic: (bad quality webcam, sorry) Here are some more images of the prototypes: http://img183.imageshack.us/gal.php?...8211516453.jpg Description from the video: "It's the safe, reusable, cheap and effective solution to dangerous and expensive pyrotechnics that are difficult to replace and manage. The "flare streams" clearly stand out and mark any needed locations in objective-based airsoft operations. Or even use them to mark areas in the heat of combat for your team such as ammo drops and points of intrest. Prototypes are already being tested and made." Let me know what you think! =D I might be able to make something great out of this design if I get some feedback and improve anything that needs improving. So it works on the same idea as a signal sheet?
Nice idea and would work great for daytime games, unless you have a plan for illuminating it for night games.

you should make a night version, either with a strobe effect via real lights, or glow in the dark streamers.
i like the idea. i personally just want to see how they actually perform. could you take a video of them being used in a real situation (whether it be staged or not, i couldn't care) but i would like the conditions to be real (i.e.: outside, low light, bright light, dense brush, light brush etc) |

A night version could be very doable, and would probably work best with a strobe light. I'm thinking a combination of glow in the dark streamers + strobe light would work best, or maybe just highly-reflective streamers so they "spread" the strobe light better.
I'll try to get a video of it being used a real situation soon, and by then I may have a night version prototype ready to be filmed also. Thanks for the quick replies and feedback! |

Maybe a lighter streamer material for better spread? Though that might make a tangled mess more likely.

Strobe light and a car battery... though you'd have to be quite a big fucker if you planned on throwing it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
Hopefully I'll get the live vid done soon, I just got to get my hands on a good camera, as all I have right now is my cell phone to record video. |

Like the glow in the dark streamer idea. That handles the night time thing perfectly.

UPDATE: The final version of the standard version are going into production shortly, and should be available soon!
Here's a video of it in action as you requested, sorry for the horrible quality but all I had to film it was my cell phone. YouTube - Spot Flare Usage Video Last edited by Ddelz; September 25th, 2009 at 21:41.. |

It's highly-reflective plastic "streams", they and the rest of the device as well, is water-proof. The poor video quality does it no justice, the blurriness doesn't show how well it reflects light and stands out.
