The real steel G3 is metal....not polymer lower....

You are talking out of your ass. The receiver is stamped from sheet steel. The trigger unit housing along with pistol handle frame, also are stamped from steel and hinged to the receiver using the cross-pin in the front of the trigger unit, just behind the magazine housing. I've seen a nice metal/wood one. No battery space was the only catch but maybe you could wedge a lipo in.

And there are M16's that have wood grips handguards/stock, but in the "classical" sense we know that they are nylon fibre... To say that all G3's have plastic/poly lowers is misleading to the thread op.
@Iron Yuppy: The Classic Army metal receiver set is awesome, I don't even know if they still make it. It will be hard to get it in country I'm afraid. I've owned a G3 w/ this kit installed, and it is a beast, you can just use it as a blunt instrument of pain...if req'd...not that you should req it to be used..but nice to know anyway. |

If you go and "wink wink, nudge nudge" you just might see one around these parts.
