Undermounted Shotgun
Hey all, this is my first post, but I thought I'd ask this question here because I've seen a lot of cool customs on this site. I'm working on making an undermounted shotgun for my gun, but before I start I wanna know if this can happen.
First of all, I've heard of people (real operators) using Ithaca M37s for a Masterkey, not just the Remington 870, is this true? I bought a really cheap M37 that runs off shells and has the 3 shot barrels and all that jazzy realism stuff, but if an Ithaca isn't realistic that defeats the purpose. Second, how would I make the peice that attaches it to an RIS?RAS rail? I thought of getting an M16 carry handle then removing the handle, so I have just the RIS mount, and then bonding it to the shotty. If I were to screw it on, would the screwtops sticking ever so slightly out of the RIS piece affect how it mounts at all? Thanks ~c EDIT: I don't know if this'll fully affect anything, but looking at it, the gun I have isn't quite an Ithaca, but close. Note that I'm not going for effectiveness too much, mostly just for fun as a kinda surprise attack. The gun I own can be seen here: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...oducts_id=5902 Last edited by colint94; November 27th, 2009 at 21:57.. Reason: New information came to light |

If you got the black one, not the CT clear one, I would recommend you drill 2 holes on the receiver and use one of those M16 heat-shield RIS bolt-on things.
or if you have a M16 handguard, or an RIS with holes between the notches, just bolt it straight on. It's not going to be accurate either way, since the receiver is curved. If you have the CT one, you had better bondo the shit out of it, cause it'll break into little pieces when you cock the thing. Or maybe you can hack apart an M203 if you are rich? http://redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/ai...l?prodID=22569 |

I meant that has the barrel mount from a standard M203.

I like the heat shield idea, though I think it'd look odd when put on the gun, like it'd make it suspended to low... Maybe its just me being anal about it though. Also, I think if I use the heat shield I'd have to attach it to the rail system first and then attach the shotgun, and I want it to be an attachable/detachable thing. I wish I had the money to cannabalize a 203 though, but my friend might sell me his... Can just the mounting system be removed I wonder?
Also, could a Mossberg 500 work better for a Masterkey? Last edited by colint94; November 28th, 2009 at 00:42.. |

If only! I'd have a few flashlights, a 203 or two, a shotgun, heck I'd have a whole underbarrel sniper!

I'm not sure who that was from ASC, but I found the picture on the forum. I think thats a Walmart shotty, looks abit too big for a M4. |

m4 shotty
Looks like a bit to long but then again depends on how long you want to cut the length of the barrel I guess and what type of shotty you use... I found this pick of an M4 with a shotty with a hacked Remmington barrel and its just the same length I guess its up to you houw long you want it... someone CORRECTme on this if I am wrong.

I really don't know if you can get too rough with that mounted beneath like that, pumping a shotty can get intense! Make sure it is really secure and able to take the abuse or it will just get in the way and make your gun front heavy. If you want an idea of how sturdy it needs to be just duct tape it on and give it a few goes, now see all that wobble?

Masterkey is so 30 years ago. It was a Remington 870 with a 3 round magazine btw, not an Ithaca 37 (the M37 stems from one being used in Predator, itself being a non-firing rubber gun).
M26 MASS is where it's at today ("today" -- its been around since the 90s)

That picture is me from a few years ago. I mounted the Walmart shotty as a joke for one game. It looks wierd but it was effective. I'm currently working on a more realistic/practical masterkey set up. I'll post pictures once I get it finished.

How did you mount it? And, yeah... the M26 MASS is (in my opinion) going to be the most impractical thing ever. It looks super bulky, makes your silhoutte bigger, and it takes away your lower handguard. Maybe it's just me but I can't beleive operators would use that.
