Going metal on my TM 5.1 Hi Capa, got a problem.

OK I managed to fully disassemble and reassembly my TM 5.1 hi capa which is currently stock. I bought up some metal parts as per advice from an earlier thread I made on the subject. I've runned into a little snag.

YouTube- TM 5.1 Hi-Capa Complete Disassembly Part 1

In the above video at 0:48, it shows the guy removing the pin that is holding in the (I believe the terms is) blowback unit. Around 1:12, he pulls the front part of the unit up and pushes from the back to remove it from the slide. Mine won't budge 1 bit. Did he miss a step or is there something wrong with mine? As I said earlier, I've done this twice with no problems yet now it won't budge. I didn't do anything else with it other then what the video showed.

Do you mean when he's taking out the blowback unit?

If it's in your plastic slide, you also have to pry the slide apart to get it to come out.
On a metal slide it will come out a lot easier cause there are slots milled out of the slide.

Ugh yeah, I've been doing so but I'm very gentile about it with no luck. I don't wanna damage anything here.

I wrote about this a couple of weeks ago....

Like Styrak said...you've got to pull the slide sides apart (out from the middle) and push up on the blow back unit (a finger lifting on the nozzle a bit at the same time helps).

It's not meant to come out easy...so *to me* it feels just shy of feeling like I'm going to tear/split the slide in half before it finally gives and the unit pops out. Just about when you think, "You can't possibly pry it apart any more"...it's just a bit more than that.

I hope you didn't get a guarder slide...if so, putting it back in with the nozzle spring still in place is going to frustrate you just as much.

(if you need a hand let me know....swing by the house and I'll pop it out for you. If you toast it completely and really want to go back to a plastic slide, I have spares)

I managed to get it out and man yeah it felt like I was going to tear the thing in half.

I got the metal slide on with the new blowback unit and spring. Fired it, works but for 1 thing. I think the spring I used may be too stiff, the slide won't lock back on an empty mag. I also found it sometimes the slide gets stuck and its a little difficult sliding it off. I also had some difficulties getting the spring guide in almost as if it was too long. I'm guessing the parts I bought or some of the stock parts needs modification to work properly.

I am at the very least proud I managed to do this almost on my own. With some help here and the video of course.

What are all the brands and parts you're using?

Airsoft Surgeon Mauri Hi Cap upgrade combo

I know I know, try to keep to the same make when installng upgrades. I wasn't really thinking of that when I was putting together and order. That and Redwolf didn't have the same brand items I was looking for in stock. Figured I'd give these items a try and if needed, send it off to a professional for fine tuning.
