Airsoft Vests vs. Body Armor, Do I have to worry?
I've been wanting to get a decent tactical vest from EbayBanned, but as I was browsing I remembered that our government in all it's wisdom has restricted body armor.
This has probably been asked before(although I couldn't find anything), but do I have to worry about buying replica airsoft vests and importing them? It would really suck to carry my mags, ammo and speedloaders in my pockets, so any answer(besides STFU NON-AV'D NOOB) would be helpful. |

Eagle is export restricted from the USA. No one in Canada can, unless it is already in country. (sealsactiongear.com)

Yeah, it's not that we can't import it, but the USA won't allow it's export to just anyone.

Unless you're buying from the US, I've ordered British frag vests into BC before so you shouldn't run into any problems.
I would however nudge you towards buying Pantac or similar quality gear due to EBB's sometimes suspect quality.

It's important to note, body ARMOR is restricted
A plate carrier isn't body armor, it's just a pocket with MOLLE all over it Customs got wise about the real ACU OTV's Ducky and I ordered (before the ACU ban), he just had to go and sign for them, they just wanted to know why he wanted to import a pocket. All he had to do was explain that there was no ballistic protection in the cover itself My team's multicam plate carriers are all built with simulated soft armor inserts (closed cell foam), we've ordered 4 or 5 individually and customs never opened any packages The restriction on importing body armor is more for actual non-MOLLE kevlar vests, like level II/IIA, level III/IIIA, and SAPI plates too Essentially, the government doesn't want Joe Shmoe to have any armor that would otherwise prevent a police officer from killing him |

So would I have gotten into trouble if one of the CBSA agent had opened my package with the following inside?

Foxx, did you get that from the US or what?
If so are you trying to show off? You remind me of that character from Mad TV "look what I can do" Last edited by -Skeletor-; December 26th, 2009 at 19:39.. |

Nope. Again at this point the problem isn't getting it into the country, it's getting it out of the USA. We aren't restricting import, they are restricting export.

Bit of a threadjack, but empty plate carriers are okay, right? Paraclete gear, in particular. Or would I have the same sort of hassle as with airsoft suppressors? That is, it's legal but it would be a real pain at the border due to misinformation.
