Bitten by the 1911 Bug
Alright, I want a 1911. I know the good brands, the bad brands, I know which I should be looking for. HOWEVER, I am new to the 1911 itself, as a REAL GUN, and that affects me when it comes to selecting a holster because there doesn't seem to be a bloody standard.
I want something that is going to fit into a kydex or injection molded holster from Blade-Tech or Uncle Mikes. As it stands, the real 1911's that fit into those are as follows: 1911 Commander 1911 FS 1911 Officer 1911 Defender 1911 Fullsize Kimber CDP 5" Kimber CDP II 5" Kimber Custom CDP II 4" Kimber Custom Eclypse 5" Kimber Custom II 5" Kimber Custom TLE Kimber Desert Warrior Kimber GOLD COMBAT RL II /W RAILS Kimber GOLD MATCH II Kimber Grand Raptor 5" Kimber Pro CDP II Kimber Pro/TLE 4" Kimber Tactical Custom II 4" Kimber Tactical Pro II Kimber Tactical Ultra II Kimber TLE/RL II 4" Kimber Ultra Carry Kimber Ultra Carry II Kimber Ultra CDP II Kimber Warrior 5" All Para Ordnance Pistols Springfield 1911 5" Springfield Chamption 4" Springfield Compact 4" Springfield Trophy Match 5" Wilson CQB Beginning to understand my troubles now? I do NOT want a "one size fits all" holster and I do NOT want some fabric POS. So, which airsoft 1911's match up with real-steel 1911's? Please help!

You want one as a stock gun or a platform for upgrade? TM obviously is a good start, though aside from the 1911A1, the MEU is not really an "accurate" replica of a real 1911. Both though have a vast array of kits available to convert them to the popular 1911 models like Kimber of SFA(I have a non-railed Kimber SWAT, and a SFA "Vicker's custom" both based on TM). As far as holster goes, I have a Bladetech(RS), Fobus(RS), and a Safariland(replica). And they all work barring the Fobus with my NOVA SFA-kitted TM, because its frame was a bit more "racy" for the space left on the frame for optic mount.

Your not alone there man, I just finished a deal for a custom 1911 that I can not wait to receive and get finished
I am also interested in this topic as I plan to get a very good holster, I was thinking safariland, but I think my main goal is to have a trigger locking holster over a snap, and suade or material lined interior to help protect the paintjob I will be gettin on it.

A TM base is a good start. If you plan on upgrading your frame to an aftermarket metal kit, go with the TM 1911a1 base. It'll save you plenty of time (and possibly headaches), unless you're out to learn how to upgrade / modify / tune GBBs, in which case it makes your time, effort, and probably money, worth it in the end. Fitting a MEU in a kit made for the 1911 base can be tricky, and some pieces will require heavy modification and some parts will not fit.
Check out the kits they have at Redwolfairsoft, they are plentiful. Lots of beauties.

AFAIK, the TM M1911A1 lines up with the Real Steel 1911 Fullsize.

I have the Safariland 6004-56-121 which differs from the 53-121 in that it is meant for a 5" 1911 variant with rail.
Works perfectly as you would expect with a SOCOM Gear Wilson CQB, Kimber Warrior, and plain jane SOCOM Gear MEU. That said, I have also used it with a non-railed TM MEU with fine results and a TM 4.3 Desert Warrior (with rail removed) and it was snug but fine. Long story short, I got the 6004 railed version and it works with railed 1911s/CQBs/Kimbers and non-railed ones alike, but I doubt the opposite is true. Meanwhile also pay attention to barrel length (ie 1911 Commander is 4.25" as opposed to 5" which is 1911 full size and also happens to be a TM 1911 or MEU) Last edited by scottyfox; January 25th, 2010 at 02:27.. |

All current KWA GBBs are advertised to be exactly 1:1 to whatever they're based on.

I think the options on bladetech there are not a one size fits all rather that they are the options for what pistols they can make for them. Like there are several there that say they fit everything from a M9 to a Desert Eagle so I think you select the option of pistol and they make it for that one.

I got the 1911 bug bad too. I just like the way that the single stack mag grip feels in my hand.
Anyone have any opinions on the Army - M.U.E. 1911s? I am just a chairsofter that is just looking at getting a decent quality, full metal 1911 at a decent price. Will the "ARMY" version suit my needs? Gordo

It's something that I'd like to buy come the start of the season. I need to fix up my truck before I spend any more money on airsoft, but once I get that squared away I'll be looking for one.
