Cut tightbore worse than stock barrel?...
Instead of opening a new post, thought I just edit this...
New question: So after I open up my sig and installed the new hop up bucking and rubber. I thought to myself "wish I had a tightbore". Then I realized I have a 509mm madbull 6.04mm tughtbore laying around. So without further thought, I copped the tightbore with a pipe cutter(the one that clam on and turn in a circle). Got it within 1mm of the stock inner barrel length. After installing and put my sig back together, I test fired it in my basement, the result was shocking!!! Bbs were flying all over the place!!! The spread had to be a foot in diameter at 5meter length!... I first thought I've probably put my hop up unit back in wrong, so u took it apart to make sure. Nothing was wrong... Put back together and tried again. Result, the same. Finally I gave up and put my stock inner back in. Shot, it was almost perfect! Spread was within a 2 inch at 5meter. So does anyone know what's happening to my cut barrel? Why is it causing my gun to shoot so poorly? Old answered question: Removing Sig 552 RIS Handguard. Hey guys!... and Gals... Last month I bought myself a JG Sig 552 from a member of ASC. The Sig had a RIS Handguard installed when I received from the mail. Today I was trying to disassemble it to upgrade a tightbore in it, no luck. Couldn't figure out how to disassemble it.... Another question, If I'm going from a stock inner barrel to a tightbore, I don't have to change the cylinder do I?... The inner barrel will be the same length though... Any help?... PS: I also broke the stupid pins that holds the handguard.... And the one at the back of the gun.... Anyone have any idea what I should do?... Like replace it with basic screw and nuts?.... Or?... Thanks!... Last edited by highny; February 7th, 2010 at 18:23.. |

No changing to a tightbore will not change the air volume significantly.
If your Sig pins are broken, buy new Sig pins. Don't try to jerry-rig it. By the way, how the HELL did you break the pins?! Last edited by Styrak; February 2nd, 2010 at 19:43.. |

The back pin isn't a one piece straight through if you know what I mean...
kind of like a nail, but think of a screw screwing onto the sharp end... And the threading part broke off... It's hard to explain... Any idea where I can get new pins for them?... |

You shouldn't need to remove the handguard to remove the upper from the lower. First fold the stock up.... at the top where the buttstock folds and where it joins the upper, remove the top screw, then remove forward pin at the front of the receiver/back of handguard.
Then you can pull the upper gently towards the front and away from the lower , and remove the upper from the lower. you can then access the hopup and remove it with the inner barrel.

Turns out the hangguard just slides out, so I do need to take the front sight and everything else on the front off.
Once the handguard is taken off, there's a screw hidden under(on top depend how you look at it) the metal handguard. Once that's taken off, then you may open the receiver. Done and done! Thanks Schlyder, if it wasn't for what you said, I wouldn't have even try to take the handguard off again. |

OK glad it helped... but that totaly sucks the front hanguard has to come off to remove the upper from the lower. I have a G&G SIG 550 and it separates without having to remove anything but 3 screws and the body pin.
