Question Which charger to buy?

I'm looking for a charger in the range of $50-$150 that charges NiCd 8.4v and 9.6v, but because of the huge amount of chargers out there I'm not sure which one would be the best, and i don't want to cheap out on a $30 universal smart charger because i know its not good for my batteries. All help is appreciated

Pirana (SP?) Smart Charger. You can program it to charge literally any battery, save for Li-Po. Easy to use and works great. I bought Amos' old one off him. Hasn't let me down yet.

Get this one: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...rger_1-6_Cells

35$ and it's a clone of a very good smart charger. Will charge virtually anything. Li-Po, Lead-Acid, Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh, Li-Fe. You name it, it charges it.

Get a Pirahna Digital Peak Charger. It charges like anything and can even SAFELY peak charge so a battery has slightly higher capacity.
You can even plug it into your car, and charge it while waiting for a game to start whilst on the road.

Its a sweet charger. I have one.

EDIT: I dont own the battery charger that was said to be a clone, but I honestly wouldnt trust anything thats a clone, in terms of batteries atleast. As it could not have a protection circuit, or it could damage a good battery. Or even possibly start a fire. Again, I don't own it so these are speculations. But I do own a Pirahna Digital Peak Charger and I know they rock.

In term of electronics, a battery charger is very hard to mess up. It's a very simple circuit. I opened up mine and it's well built. Look at the reviews, it's well rated.

Edit: I'm not even sure it's a clone.

Lets hope it has a protection circuit and parts that will last. I wasn't contesting your statement, Doom. I was just offering my insight.

And the Pirahna charger does NOT do lipos. But it does everything else extremely well.

Are you going be using a lipo? If so, go with Doom's advice. If not, pick and choose.

I sold my Pirahna because it was a bit limited. It's a great charger but...I thought I would never get into LiPo's,but I did lol. I now use a Team Checkpoint TC1030. It's just the next level, although it's the same as the Duratrax ICE chager. I use it for other things as well as Airsoft

+3 for this charger, never failed me. I always feel good about charging my batteries with my charger, because it's LCD readout lists everything, current voltage, current amperage, current mAh, and end counts of all of those when it's done.
